Looking for some help in anyone who has been on this too -
I have auto immune issues (V high NK cells) and I was but on steroids, blood thinners and intrilipids when we did a FET back in September. Although we managed to get a positive unfortunately I had an early miscarriage.
Weve had a f/up with the specialist and he now has increased my steroids to full dose of 20mg and also wants to put me on Hydroxychloroquine 400mg.
I am just slightly nervous by reading all the side effects (although I know they don't happen to everyone!)
Has anyone else been on this protocol and how did you react to them /did you have any side effects?
Appreciate any experience

Might be an idea to discuss your concerns with your consultant He knows your history - results - previous response to fertility treatment He should be able to help reassure you how he feels this treatment may be of benefit to you
Thank you - yes I've already been over this with him and it makes sense why he wants me on it.......just more wondered if anyone had an experience of any side effects when on them
Thank you so much for your reply - could I ask did she have any side effects when taking them? They say to expect to have a tummy upset on the first couple of days taking! 😕Did she have this? X
No she was fine, the only thing they said to her was she couldn’t be on too long as it can affect your eyesight. Also forgot to add she had acupuncture too x
Ok thank you so much. That's encouraging. Yes I've got to have regular eye check-ups too because of this.Yes I'm also having acupuncture, which I have been doing for couple of yrs now.
That's so interesting about the LIT treatment....I've heard of this ..... I might DM you as I would be interested in knowing more on this.
Yes I am on Hydroxy now, I do believe along with earlier Clexane in the cycle it helped make the difference on this cycle. If you check out my older posts, I asked the same question on here about Hydroxy and got quite a few positive reply’s so they may help you. I’m still on it now and almost 37 weeks pregnant. Only thing I’d say is 400mg seems a bit high, it’s dosed by your body weight and most are on 200 a day. I’ve had no side effects at all, and second the advice about keeping a check on your eyesight whilst on it. Also you need to be on it for at least 8 weeks before you start the cycle.
Wishing you so so much good luck with your next steps. Sending love and strength.xxx
Thanks for sharing and sending so many positive vibes for these final weeks! Could I ask did you take the hydrochloroquine during stims /before collection or just before FET? Thanks xx
Thanks - I’m planning to take for FETs after embryo banking but I’m not sure if I should wait until I’m done embryo banking (but then have another 2-3 months delay before can start FET) or start while still doing egg collections…
No experience but just wanted to follow this post as my consultant wants me on it as I have really high cytokines. I do agree with Nes 1005… 400mg seems excessive. Hydroxychloraquine is weight based.. really high doses can cause kidney issues. xx
hi, didn’t want to read and run! I had 4 transfers using a so called immune protocol, steroids etc, using pgd tested embryos, all ended in early losses. I took Hydroxichloroquine for my 5th transfer and that transfer gave me my daughter 💕 i had absolutely no side effects. Take it! Good luck!💕💕💕💕💕
Hello lovely, I have a success story with hydroxycholoroquine (200 mg, although they increased it to 300 mg and I had to lower the dose) and 30 mg steroids plus clexane, aspirin and extra progesterone. After a late loss (baby born sleeping) and 4 miscarriages in the first trimester, I had my son on this protocol 2.5 years ago and now currently pregnant with my last embryo (a 'poor' quality C grade embryo!) also on the same protocol. Good luck! xx
