So yesterday i had my follow up appointment after my failed fresh cycle in may wich ended in a chemical pregnancy and my bfn a few weeks ago. I sat and asked the consultant all kinds of questions they litterally rolled of my tounge.... the consultant can not see why the embies arnt sticking around they are of a good grade my uterus is perfect on transfers and everything else is perfect, he said that the only answer he has are that the eggs were abnormal. We have 2 embies left from this cycle and i cant help but think there the same 😓. The consultant said he cannot say and there may just be 1 out of the 4 that makes it,and said that we should just keep going, ive sat and ive mulled over this the consultant also said that i need to not doubt myself or us as a couple all kinds wirled around in my head ..... (can we not create a baby together) (are we not compatible) (donor eggs) the consultant said this isnt the case and to just stay positive and keep going and although the eggs look txtbook perfect they arnt always , he advised a break in treatment for a few months and on my next try we could try a none medicated cycle ... has anoyone else any experience with this and gone one to have there happy ending also has anyone had a none medicated cycle and how have they found it 😌 Xx

Hi Racheal,

Yes, this is difficult, but this is worth trying again! I just had my first BFP after 5 attempts and had a chemical pregnancy like you.

I was not proposed non medicated cycle as we had issues having good quality embryos, but it seems that the ones frozen we got are very good. Now, this is all to luck, as they need to stuck!

In our next cycle, we will put 2 and see how it goes...

Does your doctor thinks you don’t react well to the medication? What were the rating of your embryos?

When do you think you will do your next cycle?

I really think that this is luck involved too, even of everything perfect, we don’t seem to control everything.

But by trying several times, you will manage to get your beautiful baby I’m sure!!!

So I couldn’t be of any help!

Its so hard isnt it i was thinkings about putting two back but my partner thinks we should juat stick to the one... the consultant never said the grade of my eggs he just said that they were all really good i know that there all day 5 blasts. the consultant said i react to the medication very well and he dosnt think i need it to increase my lining etc.... thanks for your reply lovely 😊 Xx

Oh I understand, we are scared to have twins, but we will manage if this happens. We tried 5 times with a single embryo, my husband would rather we just put one, but we agreed if we have to try again we would put 2, not to have any regrets! And to have tried anything. And this is also what the doctor advised me, she told me if you were my friend, I will tell you to put 2!

So be it! 2 it is!

But that’s scary too, because if this doesn’t work, we lost 2 good embies at once...

You should probably discuss again with your consultant why he want to change protocol at least to understand what he is trying to achieve! But I’m just he knows what he is doing pretty well!

Xx

We were told this - that at my age 50% of embryos could develop abnormally so I was supposed to just keep going until I got a 'normal' one. Hopefully with my natural BFP it is a normal one!

But my consultant had said we had 2 embryos so luck of the draw maybe the last one was ok if the first didn't work.

Xxx

Its crazy isnt it i just hope that theres one normal one in there these embryos are so deceiving they look perfect but they musnt be 😓 Xx

The problem I had was the lack of control - I wanted him to say - 'oh this is the problem - and this is how we can help'.....

You seem like you have a good chance each cycle that is why it is frustrating!

I know it will happen for you - just a matter of time.

I know i need to keep at it its just so hard emotionally isnt it bfns are so cruel im praying that our little baba is in that freezer , we are lucky in a way as we have another fresh cycle and more potential embies as i responded well first time im just hoping and praying i wont need it 💖 Xx

in reply toRachael_

I feel you are so close - don't loose hope hon.

Lord Robert Winston makes the point that the only “good quality” embryo is one which makes a baby and, skilled though embryologists are, there’s a lot they can’t tell from just looking at embryos. It really is a bit of a numbers game- the more times you try, the more likely you are to end up with a baby. Rubbish I know. You could pay to get the embryos tested but it’s probably not worth it. Hopefully your baby is in that freezer. 🤞🏻

Have you thought about having your NK cells tested? I’ve had 2 mmc and 2 unsuccessful FETs, I took steroids last year and it was the furthest we ever got into a pregnancy. Might be worth talking to your consultant about? X

Thankyou i will ask next time i go it sounds like a good idea 💖 x

I don't think they always know why it doesn't work. I has a failed fresh cycle and then a bfn from natural FET which was a chemical pregnancy, and was told it must have been abnormal, all were 5 day top quality. I'm now pregnant on 2nd natural FET, so there is hope. It is a little game of luck I think, stay positive x

Thanks for this i think your deffinetly right he kind of said the same thing just keep at it till it works 🙏🏻 i will try to remain positive i think im going to try the natural fet next time as i had bad side affects from the progynova tablets last time so i like the idea of it been in with my natural hormones x

Hi Rachael, We're kind of in a similar situation, I've had 1 bfn and 1 recent chemical. The doctor couldnt understand why the embryos didn't implant ( all top grade) the next step for us is alloimmune testing ( for me and my husband) and an anticoagulability test for me which we're just waiting for the results of. They are looking at any chromosome abnormalities now. Both my FETS have been medicated, lining just doesn't build up as good without. All the very best X

Thanks for this he never mentioned any of this yesterday to us just keep going and it will happen im hoping that my lining will come along nice without the medication but if it dosnt i suppose ill have to stick with the medication side of things.... praying that we get our bfps soon 💖 xx

It's a long journey but it's all about the numbers and we just have to keep trying! I second the comment about immunology testing, my clinic did this after my first bfn and my medication protocol was changed, steroids and intralipid were included and although I ultimately had a chemical, it did actually implant. All the best to you X

Hi Rachael i had a 3 day double embryo transfer. Both looked fab no fragmentation and both 8 cells each. They both failed to implant. I just woke up one morning and my sore boobs had gone. I was devastated. None left to freeze either. This journey is so hard its like a lottery! I dont give up easily though. Were all fighters in this. Good luck for your next round xxx

Sorry you have had to deal with this also its a cruel journey but so rewarding aswell ... i feel so weak at the minute and the thought of another cycle scares the hell out of me i should feel lucky to have the chances but i cant help but feel like my embies are just going to keep letting me down in all of this.. its so hard isnt it .... what looked so perfect just wasnt lots of ladies asked me what the grades of the embies were but ive learned the hard way that they’re just numbers just like the whole process how many times before we get our bfps praying its soon lovely 💖 Xx

Im having one last go in October and if that doesnt work we are leaving it. I have a 13 year old son and dont want him to suffer so me and my partner have agreed this is our final go. If it doesnt work we will move on as a trio xx

Hi there, like you my first fresh cycle ended with a chemical pregnancy where they had put in our 2 best looking embryos. I had 2 remaining embryos frozen from that cycle and had them both put back in as part of a non-medicated fet a few months later, after we'd been on holiday and had a chance to relax and recuperate. My daughter turns 1 in a couple of weeks. She obviously came from one of the embryos that they thought was the least viable at the start, so don't lose hope - one of those ones you have left could be a survivor, just like our little girl! Xx

Thankyou so much for this .... it gives me hope and strength to carry on 💖 what a lovely ending you had congratulations Xx

Thank you! I really loved having the non-medicated fet as it was so much more gentle and easy going, and I think the lack of stress was a big factor in it working (the medication made me go slightly mad and really stressed me out) and, as my doctor couldn't see any reason why not, we decided it was definitely the best option for us. All I took was folic acid and vit D. Good luck with your cycle! Xx
