Hello everyone, I have just had a failed second FET yesterday.I'll be 43 next week. I have multiple fibroids but not within my cavity, as well as endometriosis which I have laparoscopic surgery for 14 months ago. I've had repeated hysteroscopy prior to each transfer.
This is a tough period for me.
Any advice on how I can increase my chances of getting my next embryo implanted properly will be appreciated.
I will be reading your comments

Hi I’m also in the same position, we had two failed FET and first one was normal procedure had a chemical pregnancy and 2nd one I took progesterone, steroids, vaginal bacteria tablets, antibiotics, aspirin and an IV drip and didn’t even have a positive test!
So we took a break from September and will look to do a transfer next month however I am speaking to the doctor tomorrow to understand what protocol they suggest. I am leaning toward nothing only progesterone as it seemed to have more success.
What protocol were you on?
It’s quite difficult but hang on in there. I have hope it will work for us. It only takes one. X
Yes I believe and I have hope that we will all succeed and hold our babies in our arms very soon.I was only on estrogen tablets and patches and cyclogest pessaries.
So sorry to read your post Make sure have people around you for support Take a look at our website fertilitynetworkuk.org Access Support to find out about Regional Support Groups near you
Thank you.Unfortunately it's just my husband and I who are here abroad. The rest of our families are in another continent of the world, plus we did not tell them about the treatment. Reason being that we want to be private about it, and we don't want to increase their worries and anxieties for us.
I will definitely look at the website to find local support.
I had success with double donor at 48 after 6 failed transfers with 10 embryos. I had a fibroid outside and had endo zapped a few years ago. I had clexane and prednisolone.
Sorry to ask, did you mean double donor from two different donors? Because I was told I may likely use a donor. My clinic told me I have zero AFC meaning I don't have follicles in my ovaries that was December last year and I was 39 then. But I am 40 this January preparing for IVF. Thanks in expecting your reply.
Sorry you are struggling, I know the feeling and you just feel so negative.
Ive been doing IVF for over 3 years now so probably total of 5 -6 rounds with OE.
Had 1 pregnancy but it didn’t work out unfortunately, then numerous tests, scans, hysteroscopies, one laparoscopy.
I then had 2 x failed DE transfers in 2024.
My 3rd transfer was in November 2024 and I’m now 13 weeks pregnant.
Don’t give up, even DE can take some time and not every embryo will be able to create a healthy pregancy. (Just as people trying naturally may not be able to get pregnant every single month)
It sounds like you’ve done a lot of investigations already. It could just be luck of the embryo. What is the sperm quality ? How many embryos do you have frozen?
Do they test your progesterone the day before ET?
I took extra progesterone injections and clexane plus steroids (prednisone)
Congratulations Amywoz84 on your pregnancy. It's been a long journey. God will see through the whole 9 months and you'll have a healthy baby.I had my progesterone test on the day of transfer and it was normal.
Although my husband's had some minor issues with the sperm analysis test reports but we were able to get 5 high quality D5 embryos with the 5 DE retrieved.
The other thing is he had flu-like viral infection few days before giving the sperm to fertilise the DE. Could this have any effects on the embryos?
I'm currently pregnant following our 6th DE transfer. After the 5th failed we looked more into implantation issues and I had the endome trio test (Emma/Alice/Era). You basically prepare as if you are doing a FET but on the day of transfer they take a biopsy instead of putting in an embryo. One test looks for bad bacteria/infection (which they treat with antibiotics if needed), one looks for good bacteria (which they treat with probiotics) and one looks at the receptivity of the lining at the time of transfer. My good/bad bacteria levels were fine but we found that my lining wasn't receptive and I needed an extra day of progesterone. We followed that protocol with the next transfer which (so far at least) is going well. It was also a different donor though so its hard to know what actually made the difference (and could just be luck).
Thanks for this information. I will ask by doctor next time about the probiotics Although I did hysteroscopy and biopsy for infection prior to my transfer. But no receptivity test
