For my next FET (frozen transfer) I think I am told to have x3 Cyclogest and x1 Lubion injection daily.
I am worried if this is too much progesterone? Is there such a thing? My first cycle I was on x2 Cyclogest and no injections and I have asked for more as I don’t feel it was enough in my first fresh failed transfer.
Thanks in advance x
So I wanted to update that my clinic are only giving me x2 cyclogest a day plus a lubion injection daily.. I am worried now - will this be enough for someone who has had low progesterone in the past??? X
Are you on your 2ww or confirmed pregnant? Only wondering as you said you are currently on progesterone.
I cannot believe it, my husband remembered I had blood tests done nearly 2 years ago when I started this fertility journey and the blood test showed my progesterone level was at 9, where it needs to be 15 or more to be normal.
My GP did another blood test to check if I ovulated and my progesterone levels and they were a bit better, but not exactly where they needed to be. There was definitely improvement. I was also referred to a gynecologist who put me on Clomid for 6 months and I responded very well to this and ovulated at a very high level, but still didn’t fall naturally pregnant, which is why we started IVF.
Now I am just wondering how much progesterone I actually need as this is our last embryo transfer and I do not want to take any risks! X
I would go for as much as possible - my clinic always wanted progesterone levels to be above 50 on the day of transfer (they do bloods the morning of then up it the same day if needed).
I think it's important to have a high enough level to keep the uterus lining in place and thick enough.
Well I asked my clinic and they said they don’t do any monitoring. Crazy isn’t it that if they know you have low progesterone levels you would think they would monitor you before the embryo transfer. And this is my last embryo so as you can imagine I don’t want to lose it. I am going to do private blood test. Check my progesterone levels prior to the embryo transfer and I will also do one during my 2ww to make sure my levels are still up to scratch. I don’t know if my GP will do this if I ask, but I will check… xx
I was on 3x utrogestan and 2 lubions on my successful FET. The clinic would have prescribed 3 cyclogest and 2 lubions but I wanted to try utrogestan in case I absorbed it better. My consultant said you can't have too much.
hello thank you for your reply. It’s good to know that you cannot have too much progesterone. If you read my reply above to the other user, I was explaining that my progesterone level was actually low in a blood test. I had done nearly 2 years ago. My husband reminded me of this! Therefore I do have a progesterone issue being low so I want to make sure from my embryo transfer as it’s embryo. I do not take any risks and have more than enough progesterone to hopefully sustain the pregnancy! X
Hi there! I had a blood test the day of my transfer and it was borderline (50.5) and my doctor put me on 3x cyclogest and 1x Lubion to make sure my levels didn’t drop. I hope they will test your progesterone throughout. If not, get it checked privately ( I did a couple of times haha). My cycle is successful and I am now 11 + 2 pregnant. Wishing you best of luck!
Aww congratulations!! I have not heard anything about my clinic checking my levels therefore I will definitely get it checked privately. Did you do this through your GP as I don’t think my GP will do it as they will know I am on IVF and refer me there… I am being put on x3 Cyclogest and x1 Lubion injection also and the fertility doctor said that’s more then the maximum dose so I’m thinking it should be sufficient? X
Hi! I went privately. You can Google where you can get it checked (I’m in London and loads of places do it). Keeping all my fingers crossed that all goes well for you!
definitely not too much! I was on the same for a medicated FET and it wasn’t enough for me (but that was unisual). I would say it’s a good amount to be on.
My successful cycle I did a modified natural FET (so i was also making my own progesterone) and I was still on that same amount and it worked. It’s very hard to have too much progesterone.
I asked a very similar question to my consultant (when we added in the lubion to the 2x cyclogest I was taking) he told us that as pregnancy was a high progesterone state is was better to have too much than not enough! So I would say you are ok 😊 xx
thank you that really helps. I feel a lot better after reading yours and the other ladies replies. Everyone is so helpful here. This is our last embryo so as you can imagine I’m really paranoid about progesterone levels going wrong! X
