hi I’ve just had my progesterone checked two days before my planned FET. Level is 168. I’ve read if it’s above 100 can lower implantation rates.
I’ve had two fresh transfers before, both implanted (one blighted ovum and one a successful pregnancy), however both of these I only took cyclogest 400 twice daily.
I’ve been prescribed lubion as well as cyclogest this time. I did question why they added in lubion this time and she just said to ensure adequate levels.
I didn’t have levels checked on the fresh transfers but I presume they much of been ok to have both fresh embryos implant for a positive result.
I feel like stopping the lubion now.
Has anyone else been worried about their progesterone being too high? x

hi there. I’m about to have my first FET at the weekend and I feel like the only one who is asking about progesterone as they not mentioned it and seem to be just expecting me to have the FET without any intervention. Was there a reason they suggested the progesterone to you? They’ve told me I can take lubion and cyclogest if I want but nothing is scheduled to check my levels etc
hi I’m on a medicated FET, so it is necessary to take progesterone to get the endometrium receptive for the embryo and helps the lining too. Not sure re natural FET.
It’s more a newer thing at my clinic to check levels. I would ask them re this.
My progesterone was 190 two days before transfer and the clinic were happy with it. On the same medication, it was only 29 the day after transfer. I was also on lubion. It does wear off between dosages. I have twins from that transfer.
The first test was done just after I took my lubion (I was taking 2x per day) and the second was taken just before.
You tend to have higher natural levels of progesterone after a fresh transfer than an FET because you have ovulated. Unless it’s a natural FET they tend to give you more progesterone than for a fresh transfer
I had the same worries as you but i would be cautious about stopping lubion as a large drop in progesterone can initiate your lining shedding. I would speak to your clinic and actually be tempted to take another test tomorrow as levels can fluctuate dramatically. I tested every day of the 5 days pre-transfer and they really did vary. I was so concerned but my clinic explained that's why they like the reading to be above 100 as it could so easily drop
to below 100 on another reading. You may find you just caught it at a peak...
My clinic said that progesterone couldn't be too high - it was much better to have high levels than to risk dropping too low. I've had one failed FET where they had to up my progesterone after transfer, and one mock cycle where I took lubion and my levels were much more stable.
Thanks for replying, really appreciate it. yeah that’s what my clinic is saying too, they aren’t concerned. Think because I’m an advanced nurse practitioner I research too much. I just need to relax as it’s too late now to change anything. I could have another blood test tomorrow, have to pay extra £46 for it though.
Was you on lubion or lubion and pessaries? What was your level? X
