Earliest you can stop progesterone - help please

Hi everyone

Apologises if this has been asked before but this is my first ivf pregnancy and my first pregnancy I have got this far.

I am currently 10+1 and taking:

3 x cyclogest pessarys per day

1 x Lubion injection per day.

I have enough lubion until next Tuesday when I will be 11+4 and enough cyclogest to take until 12 weeks

I’m nervous that I don’t have enough lubion for the 12 week date exactly - will I be ok or should I ask my clinic for another week supply?

What is the earliest you can stop progesterone support? I’m nervous about coming off completely so was contemplating reducing the pessaries to twice a week soon

Thanks all xxx

I stopped at 11 weeks and lots of clinics stop their clients at week 10. So you should be perfectly fine

Lisichka, hope you are well! I will be 11th week next week and my clinic told me to take cyclogest until 12th week. Did you withdraw it completely from day 1 of 11th week or reduced the amount gradually? Thanks xx

I stopped cold turkey at 11w2d after the scan where the doctor saw the placenta. I was a bit nervous but was all ok, no spotting or anything.Congrats on reaching 11 weeks!! xx

I have been told to stop at 8 weeks! They told me that with a fresh transfer they don't give progesterone for longer than that.

I started reducing my progesterone (I was on lubion and utrogestan) at the beginning of week 8 and stopped completely stopped at the end of week 11. I was a bit anxious about stopping so early but did a progesterone test at about 7.5 weeks. It was really high (around 700) so that put my mind at ease.

I stopped the day after I had my BFP when my medication ran out. I questioned it with the clinic as everyone on here seems to be continuing until around 12 weeks but they weren’t concerned. X

I would talk with your dr as they know your case best and your blood levels. I think everyone is different. Trust their treatment plan I am sure they’ll wean you off when they feel like your body is making the hormones on it’s own. Definitely share your concerns with them and pick the meds up. It’s better to have to much than not enough. Hang in there it’ll be all worth it in the end. Coming from someone that was on daily 2ml of progesterone in oil shots, and bi weekly 3ml estradiol injections and twice a day 100mg progesterone suppositories. My bum is so lumpy, and I’m so over being poked. We’re 8 weeks and 2 days. Dr back me down now to 1/2 ml of progesterone nightly and 0.3 ml of estradiol bi weekly. And still on suppositories twice daily.

I stoped at 12 weeks cold turkey and was fine. It did feel abit strange at first but was nice to not have to worry about doing them and the mess they create x
