Thin womb lining

Hi đź‘‹

We are about to start our second round of IVF. I had my scan today and my womb lining is only 4.5 after 13 days of Estradiol. I have to go back for another scan on Friday, but if it’s not thickened up by then they will have to cancel this cycle.

Has anyone else been in this situation?

Thanks xx

I was told a little excercise to keep up blood flow and good lean protein foods. Thers lots of yoga moves to help too, legs up the wall etc. Keep your hope high, it will thicken ❤️

I heard pomegranate juice can help and also acupuncture. Good luck, did your clinic say what is the minimum thickness they want to see?

Thanks for your reply. They said they need it at at least 7 and have upped my meds and moved the scan to Monday 🤞🤞 I’ve got the Pomegranate juice lol!! Xx

Sympathy only I guess - mine is 2mm, and has been for the last 2 yrs! Can't take estradiol for more than a couple of weeks at a time, due to clotting challenges, but when I did it had zilch effect at 50microg/day. No idea why, other than trying to eat lots (of anything) and exercise only in moderation! Good luck.

Hi BabyBear. Oh dear, it might pick up. Try not to be too disheartened if it’s cancelled, got to get it right. Good luck. Diane

hello!

Yes I have the same issue.

I went through 4 cycles of trying to get a thicker lining for FET. But all protocols have fails so we were not able to do the transfer.

At the moment, we are seeing a different doctor and we are planning a hysteroscopy.

Have you had miscarriages in the past?

In my case we are still investigating. It’s crazy that doctors have no idea what to do. Good luck and keep us posted

Xx

Hi, sorry to hear this. We haven’t had any miscarriages, we just had a failed first transfer a couple of months ago and my lining was ok then.

hi BabyBear I’m sorry to hear this. I’ve had 7 cancelled cycles in the last year because of this and have tried everything from medicated cyckes, natural cycles and now mildly stimulated. Last month we got to 7.1mm which was a lot better than the rest (usually struggle to near 6) so we went ahead in desperation and transferred a perfect 5AA PGT tested hatching embryo and it failed so now I’m beating myself up for wasting that beautiful emby. I’m waiting for my scan today to see if another cycle is going to be cancelled day 16 of stims. The scan 2 days ago my lining was 6.4 & a tiny trace of fluid. I’ve been through IVF begore and blessed with a 3 yr old I can honestly say the cycle cancelling is the hardest part but I know won’t want to hear this but it’s better than wasting those precious embryos. There are so many protocols they will find the right one. I used to respond better on a natural cycle (that’s how we got my son) but since his birth I now have fluid from the c-section scar which I’ve had repaired to no avail. If you haven’t already definitely try a natural cycle. Thinking of you and good luck xxx

I couldn’t get my lining past 5.5mm.

My treatment was done in Spain and I ended up having a hysteroscopy and instillations. (GIP)

Blood was removed from my arm, the platelets from the blood were isolated then they were injected back into my lining to thicken it.

This worked for us and I am now 17 weeks pregnant on our first go.

The procedure I had isn’t done in the uk so we are so glad that we used a clinic abroad.

Best of luck

Hi BabyBearx, I am so sorry to hear about this and about everyone's experience of difficulty with the lining. I wanted to share that I have been eating foods apparently shown to help improve the lining (45+ grams of whole grains per day, beetroots and others listed on websites) and also been doing the yoga for restoration and blood flow, as well as acupuncture. I have seen my lining improve since it was last measured several years ago (late 30s to early 40s). As with everything all of our bodies react differently to these interventions. I hope you find something that helps you. Take care, S.

Hello Babybearx, I had this on my most recent cycle. My lining was just 4mm on day 12. This was the first time I’d had this problem as usually my lining has been fine.. They upped my estrogen tablets from 3 to 4 a day and I tried to drink pomegranate and cranberry juice and keep myself moving and the blood going to my uterus (including having more intercourse…apologies if tmm!) but it worked. My lining was 8.1mm by day 22, the transfer went ahead and I’m not 6w+2 pregnant. Good luck!

hey.. sorry to hear you’re going through this.. I’ve been through it a few times myself & it’s so frustrating.. my body seems to not respond to the meds.. actually makes my lining thinner. I’ve done a long protocol and a short one and both times my lining didn’t pass 5.4mm and actually got thinner when we added in patches so both cycles got cancelled. I’ve since done 2 none medicated cycles.. my lining got to 7.4mm last month and the embryo stuck but sadly ended in a chemical.. I’ve today had another cycle cancelled but because they miss timed my ovulation but my lining got to 7.1mm so if you’ve not tried a natural.. give it a go. I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice, eating Brazil nuts. taking vitamin E and also baby aspirin daily which I do think has made a massive difference. Good luck…xx

My consultant recommended taking vitamin e to help encourage lining thickness. May be worth a go? X

hi there! I’m in the same situation as you right now, had a day 10 scan yesterday and lining was 4.5mm. They have upped my tablets to 4 a day (I’m also on patched every 48 hours) and back on Friday for another scan. They didn’t seem too worried though and said there was still plenty of time to get it to +7. My natural cycles are a bit long at 32 days so I think it just takes a bit longer for my lining to get there. I’m remaining hopeful, drinking my beetroot juice, taking vitamin e etc as well. X
