Help with a thin womb lining!

Hi everyone, I’m new to the fertility network and this is my first time posting but wondered if anyone had any advice for getting the lining of your womb thicker. We had to stop our latest round of ivf as my womb lining didn’t reach the required thickness. The consultant said we could try again in the new year but now worried the same thing will happen when we go to try again. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated as I’m struggling a bit emotionally this time around. Xx

Hey, sorry to hear you had to stop your cycle - that must have been so frustrating. My consultant recommended Vit E as there is some evidence it can improve womb lining. I take 400 units a day. I have a scan tomorrow to see if it has made any difference, but my last two bleeds have lasted longer so I think it has had a small effect. There are medications they can give you when you start you're next cycle, I'm pretty sure, but I don't know enough about them to say more so hopefully someone else will come along x

Thank you that’s really helpful. I read about vitamin E so can definitely give that a try. Good luck with your scan tomorrow, hope it all goes well xx

Hi, yes definitely vitamin E (food sources for nourishment and enriching blood also online); also yoga that concentrates on blood flow. There are plenty of free classes and demos on you tube about increasing blood flow to the right areas! I have been doing some this week in my 2ww and it relaxes you too. Best of luck ☺️

I also recommend vit E .. they can give extra estrogen to help thicken too although my lining could never get past 8mm... Aspirin and clexane can also help if you have sticky blood which can constrict blood flow.

Exercise and maybe tummy massage can also help to improve blood flow along with keeping feet super warm - cold feet = cold uterus and less blood etc

How many cm was your lining?

Also not sure if you have had a laparoscopy or hysteroscopy to rule out any underlying conditions of the uterus. Maybe worthwhile before doing another round .. wishing you every success

So my lining has always been thin, they think as an after effect of the radiotherapy I had. Last round I was on max dose of oestrogen, aspirin and viagra(!) but only got to 5.7mm. They’ve mentioned a hysteroscopy if the next round also doesn’t go well.

Thank you for your tips 😊

Hi! I have heard that pomegranate juice is supposed to help. I don't know if this is the case but I do drink it during FET. Good luck:)

Hi Birdsetfree, I had thin lining too. Used a hot watter bottle overnight whole lining was building up and this seemed to help (heard something about it increasing the blood flow to the uterus) xx

hi hun, sorry to hear that happened. I had a cycle cancelled due to lining not becoming thick enough. On my successful cycle we had added small dose of aspirin and more estrogen which seemed to have helped and as others have said think towards improving blood flow to the uterus via yoga, meditation etc. Acupuncture might also help although I actually had stopped this for my successful cycle.

My acupuncturist did mention red foods though to help with blood flow (red meats, veggies, fruit etc). Not sure how researched that is but I guess can’t harm to eat more red cabbage and beetroot etc 😅

I hope your next cycle with be more successful!

Hi Birdssetfree! If your lining is thin due to radiotherapy, there is some research that pentoxifylline and vitamin E in combination can help. It seems they can restore the tissue damaged by radiation. You can find several scientific articles on it and perhaps discuss it with your doctor. It’s not a quick fix though. It must be taken for few months to work. Good luck!
