Hello all you amazing women! Hoping you can share your experience/thoughts on cancelled cycles.
I’m currently going through my only NhS ivf round (only get one in Northern Ireland) and it looks like I’m not responding well to the drugs on day 6 scan.
Left ovary had one follicle at 11mm and two at 8mm. The dr didn’t even measure the ones on the right cos she said they were too small.
They upped my dose from 375 Bemfola to 450 in hopes we’ll get more growth but they didn’t sound hopeful. And down regulated me with the syranel spray.
So, I’m expecting the cycle to be cancelled and wondering if they’ll offer a redo or is that out only cycle over?!
We had a private round last year on 375 Ovaleap AM and PM and retrieved 4 eggs, 3 of which fertilised but abnormally so didn’t get to transfer. Got down regulated with one injection on the bum!! But can’t remember the name of the drug,
I’m 36 with low amh of 3 plus we have male factor infertility of 1% morphology.
Any similar experiences or thoughts to challenge them with different meds or protocols that worked better for you?
Thanks for reading and/or replying! Xx

We only got one NHS cycle including one fresh or frozen transfer and my first was cancelled - was on long protocol and my body 'ignored' the meds, as the nurse put it. I was told as long as we didn't get to retrieval it didn't count as a full round so was then put on short protocol and it still counted as my NHS round. Once I'd had the fresh transfer from that that was it though. I think generally the first round is a bit of an experiment and also just to complicate things, you can have different responses and outcomes each time.
Thank you for replying. It sounds like my body is ignoring the meds too, and fingers crossed they’ll not count it as a round and we can get another go.
I’d quite like to try the short protocal as a change too. Thanks again ❤️❤️
Hi, I use private clinic with package price, but similar experience, first cancelled but no extra fee
First Short protocol stim( Fostimon) day 7: poor response, 2 follicle 10-12mm, along with 2 smaller ones, doctor was not happy with the result then cancelled this protocol, first scan before stim shows 6 follicles
Start Second straight with long protocol, burserelin for 5 weeks ( I have cyst and little endometriosis which almost gone after down reg), showed 8 follicles, then stim, gonal f plus meriofert and continue bureselin for nearly 3 weeks, increased to 12 follicles, waiting for egg collection now
But still not sure the egg quality and how many eggs I can get, doctor expect 4-5 eggs, I’m 40, low AMH, first IVF
Nhs was waste of time for me , then Uk private clinics was better in comparison but they had the same “one plan fits all” ! Sadly it fits only the textbook infertility issues and not anything else. They named it unknown infertility issues and both nhs and private cost me 5 years! For difficult cases you must try abroad. One lady told me about a clinic in Greece, she was so impressed with them …
Now with my family completed (2 kids already) i recommend them to all ! all the couples they used them after my recommendation are thrilled with them and thats make me so happy!
I hope you find the way to complete your family!!!
Thank you, I’m glad you got your family completed! 🥰🥰🥰. I’d love to go abroad but not sure if that’s viable for us as we have a lot of responsibilities here.
