Bloating Tips

I am truly grateful to be BFP and have my first scan tomorrow but I’m currently really struggling with the bloating. It starts to get really bad from lunchtime and only really eases again by the next morning. When incidentally I get morning sickness! As the morning sickness goes, the bloating kicks in again! This was a FET, I am on Lubion, Evorell patches and cyclogest. I’m sure it’s the sheer amount of progesterone I’m on but does anyone have any tips on how to help that are pregnancy safe? Pls tell me it goes away when you stop the drugs? I’m so exhausted already! Thanks

Hi Ladakhis. Oh dear, it might be the Lublin. Make sure you drink lots of water and for goodness sake don’t get constipated. Hopefully it will pass but speak to your GP if it continues. Well done with the BFP. Diane

I was on utrogestan and lubion for my first pregnancy and the bloat was insane - I was pretty bloated and swollen during egg collections but once the HCG started to kick in too I just blew up. We had to tell people early as I was so big and it didn't really go down. I pretty much stayed the same size until I was 5mnths! I stayed on progesterone due to bleeding but the most acute effects did ease when I started to come off lubion and reduce the suppositories, so maybe that will help for you. This time around I'm not on any support (surprise natural pregnancy) and my stomach is more flat in the morning but as soon as I eat - poof! i'm back in maternity leggings for comfort and trying to avoid the sideways glances. So I guess it's just the way some of us react. Lots of fluids helps if you can keep them down (makes me feel too sick) and avoiding heavy foods and fizzy drinks means it's not so uncomfortable. But I know from last time that I can be feeling so bad that all I eat in a day is a few pieces of satsuma and have sips of iced water, and it still happens. Gentle exercise amd swimming is pretty good for making me feel better generally x

The boating is normal in pregnancy and usually lasts until 12 weeks! You can extend your jeans with a hair bobble through the button hole and wear baggy tops. It’s usually more obvious to you than other people. I’ve had four natural pregnancies (three MMC) but no ivf ones as can’t get blasts but I’ve always had the bloating! There will be more tips on mumsnet or babycentre!
