Bloating???
I don’t know how it happens but I get it the same. I imagine it’s hormone related, but it does get you down. Not sure what you can do unfortunately but let me know if you get any useful tips 😊
Bloating around the time of ovulation may be caused by a rise in estrogen levels before the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge. The LH surge occurs just before ovulation. This change in hormone levels may cause your body to retain water, which can result in bloating. Fluid retention around ovulation should only last 1-2 days.
Premenstrual bloating occurs as a result of the hormone progesterone. Progesterone levels begin to rise as soon as ovulation occurs. This is to prepare the lining of the uterus for a pregnancy, should fertilization occur. And as a result, means lots of changes in the body as progesterone levels peak (PMS symptoms), including bloating around 1week before bleeding starts.
By the 1st day of your period, progesterone levels have dropped off and your symptoms should disappear.
Hi sammejayne. Possibly due to you producing lots of extra follicles just before ovulation. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Diane
Hi I get the same so I can totally sympathise. I literally have a few days in the month where I don’t look or feel bloated. In the morning my stomach looks as though I’ve had a 3 course meal! I have been diagnosed with PCOS recently and I think the bloating is related to that. Do you have any other symptoms? I have been advised on diet and exercise, also started drinking green tea and taking peppermint capsules. It’s all new to me. Hope you get some answers. Kate.
