Looking for some advice/ anyone that may have been in a similar boat.
Today was egg collection day (4th time). They managed to retrieve 4 eggs but I was told that they would have to be frozen if they make it to day 5 blastocysts due to my bloods on Monday showing high levels of progesterone. I’m feeling a little disappointed as it means another wait. Like we don’t already do a lot of waiting 😏
Anyway, I spoke to the specialist who said that I should take cyclogest for 5 days. I should then have a bleed and to start estrogen on day 2 of the period. They will scan me in 10 days and go from there. But when I spoke about it to one of the nurses they thought I’d have to have this bleed and then wait for my normal cycle to start.
I’m just a little confused and want to do what’s best. Although I don’t want to waste any time, if it’s best to wait for the natural cycle then I’d wait.
Thanks for taking the time to read. Would love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position or has any information on it.
Take care and best wishes to you all 💫

Hiya - hope you're recovering well from your egg collection. Sorry if silly, question, but are you sure it was progesterone that was elevated on collection day and not oestrogen? My progesterone levels were high on collection day (they're not always tested on that day which is why I'm querying) and this was deemed as a good sign and I proceeded with a fresh transfer. My understanding is that you just need to keep the progesterone levels as high as possible for transfer and beyond. Definitely take the specialists advice on what is best though as I'm no expert! Regarding the FET, I believe most people wait for the natural bleed so their body has more time to recover, but I have heard of people having success doing a FET after the first synthetic bleed. Wishing you all the best for day 5 x
Hello! This happened to me, too. Had egg collection last week where the nurse told me afterwards while I was laying in the recovery area half conscious that because the progesterone was high two days prior on trigger day that I couldn’t do a fresh transfer and had to freeze any resulting embryos instead. I was super confused and upset not understanding why. Afterwards I read that high P before collection is bad for implanting (so better to wait for a future cycle when levels settle) but is good to have it high before the transfer.
But this was and still is stressful for me because I didn’t know this was a scenario that could happen. I even asked when my blood was being taken what was the purpose, and was just told “the doctor will tell you on the day of the egg collection if anything is wrong”. So ladies try to ask about this possibility in advance and don’t be surprised and distraught like I was!
I have a follow up consultation tomorrow so will find out more about the plan going forward for our one precious (now frozen) embryo. Thinking of you all and wishing lots of luck!!
Hi! The doctor told me I could start the frozen transfer process but it will take some time to get set up with the nurse and get booked in, fill all the forms again etc. so in theory we could start right away but in reality with the logistics will likely need to start with the next period. I just started a period today (10 days after egg collection) so it will be another few weeks before I can actually start. Feeling very impatient but trying to stay positive! Did you get any advice?
