I had my EC on Wednesday and it was a bit of a disaster. The trigger shot wasn’t strong enough and the eggs in my right ovary didn’t release at all. After an hour they managed to get 6 from the left. Fortunately they all fertilised so we have the agonising 5 day wait to see if the make it to embryo/ blasto stage.
I was supposed to be doing a fresh transfer but the consultant told me (just before I went under) that my progesterone was too high which meant we’d missed the window for implantation, so we’d have to freeze all and do FET next cycle to control the levels.
Has anyone experienced this before? I’m gutted as I was expecting to know whether I was pregnant within 2.5 weeks. Now it’s more like 5 weeks. xxx

Millbanks, I had to freeze mine too. Stay positive. You need the right level of progesterone for the little ones to survive, so it's a good thing they checked for you. That's a really good sign that all fertilised correctly and you have 6! Amazing! I think we are conditioned in life to focus on what we don't have, rather than what we DO have (so we consume more)... send love and energy to your six embryos. Imagine them multiplying beautifully and forming perfect blastocycts. Visualise them healthy, happy and growing well.
Usually clinics don't freeze morulas, but women fall pregnant with morulas. YOU decide what gets frozen. In my past cycles, I'm sure I would have had more frozen had I insisted my morulas get frozen too. I have 2 morulas in the freezer and if they don't survive the thaw, then at least we tried. Keep the faith - praying for all your embryos to reach blastos. xx
Very wise words indeed. Thank you. I realise that we are lucky to have 6 as I know many ladies on here have struggled with that. Fingers crossed they keep on growing xx
I'm a bit worried I'll be in your situation...had egg collection Monday have 4 embies hopefully still growing...day 5 tomorrow. But nobody has mentioned checking progesterone levels first etc?! Should I be requesting this? It's my first go so I have no clue what I'm doing! Xx
Are you private or NHS? My NHS experience was that they don’t check progesterone for a fresh cycle as you have it occurring naturally from your eggshells. The private clinic routinely test them to find the best implantation window. You can always ask them to check the levels if you’re worried. Or ask their advice and what they are doing to make sure they have the best window xx
It's my one and only NHS round which might be why then! ...I'm in for a lining scan anyway in the morning as I have the dreaded thin lining issue so I'll ask then if they can check it for me as otherwise I'll always wonder if it doesn't work out. Thank lovely xx
Sorry lovely, I know this forum is amazing but sometimes it can make you question what you are doing. I try to trust in what my clinics are doing as they have the experience... fingers and toes crossed for you! Xx
Oh lovely, I know how you feel. I was told just before egg collection that they were going to do freeze all too. In my case it was due to OHSS risk. I was so gutted. FETs are quite straightforward and apparently have a slightly increased chance of success too. Plus I think you can start one fairly quickly after this cycle. Best of luck xxx
Thanks Peanutchips- I’d forgotten that FETs are often more successful so that makes me feel a little better. It’s so frustrating when you have your heart set on something isn’t it. Hope you’re doing well! Do you know what date your FET is yet? Xx
I know, it’s totally understandable to feel upset and frustrated when you’ve had your heart set on this and worked so hard for it. It’s really good they tested though. Much better to wait few weeks longer and hopefully have a successful FET than lose a precious embryo 😊😙 I had my FET on Tues, eek so nervous! Xxx
