egg retrieval , low follicle

Back again!!

I’ve had a crappy year full of delays , including an abandoned cycle in august due to low response.

Consultant wanted me to cancel egg collection again with this cycle as I have only 2 follicles , possibly 3 . (16/15/22 day of trigger)

But we decided to go ahead, next month could be the same and this year has been a disaster with delays .

So I’m off to London bright and early in the morning for my egg retrieval . First time at this hospital and it’s done under sedation, I’ve only ever had general anaesthetic so I’m a bit nervous. I defo won’t feel anything?

Also I’m terrified we won’t have anything to collect /fertilise , hopeful we get 2 eggs that fertilise. Really hope we didn’t make a mistake going ahead 🤞

Plan is to freeze and do another round asap.

Down reg for a few months and then transfer.

Good luck with you egg retrieval!!! I've got everything crossed for you! I had all my 3 egg collections done under sedation, never general anaesthetic, and I didn't feel a thing... One minute I was in theatre getting ready for it, the next minute I was back in my bed with the nurses telling me how many eggs we had. Don't worry! They give you the good stuff 😂😂😂 all the best tomorrow!!!

I’ve been at the same clinic so long now, going somewhere new is always daunting. Really good I get some good news tomorrow.

Oh my goodness the sedation was WONDERFUL 🤣 didn't feel a thing, had a lovely nap, woke up to tea and biscuits - you've nothing to worry about, they do a great job of keeping you comfy!

Loved the sedation, it's deep you won't realise anything and will wake up with tea and cookies in front of you! After all the hard work you put into injections etc it's just nice not to have to do something for a day 😅

Hello,

I’ve only ever had sedation and don’t remember any of the collections.

I am in a similar position to you. Since November 23 r have had a cancelled cycle, a cycle with abnormal eggs, a cycle with immature egg and a cycle with no eggs. I never have more than 2 follicles grow.

I wish you lots of luck today and hope you get the result you’re hoping for.

This cycle is the first time I had down reg for collection and the first time we have had no eggs. Have u had down reg before? Do you find it has a longer effect on your body?

Hey lovely. Wishing you the very best of luck for your retrieval today. In terms of sedation I was worried about my first one but after that I realised nothing to worry about. As another poster has said you have a nice sleep and get a hot drink and biccies afterwards. Hope all goes as well as possible for you, I know it is really not easy especially all the waiting and not knowing x x

3 follicles, 2 eggs collected , only 1 was mature. So I’m just waiting now till the morning to see if it has fertilised and ok for freezing.

Not the best outcome but I still have some hope xx

Update : my one egg fertilised . Frozen on day 1 (2PN) so don’t know if it’s good quality . But better than nothing.
