Happening all over again

So BFP on Monday, bright red bleeding with little clots today, so looking very much like I’m headed for my third miscarriage. They have all been about 5-7 weeks. I’ve had ERA tests etc, hysteroscopy, blood test for miscarriage. I am on steroids, aspirin, clexane, Prolutex and utrogestan. What is wrong with me and where on earth do I go from here? Pretty much losing my mind at this point. Should say also it’s double donor embryo due to issues on both sides. Xx

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Did you get the embryo pgta tested. We went down the double donor route and had a number of abnormal embryos. Also have you had your nkcells checked? I hope your ok as ok as can be xxx

I think it was tested but to be completely honest I'm not sure! Have had NK cells tested and they were normal. I'm ok, just tired Appreciate you getting in touch. Hope you are well? Was so pleased to hear your news! Xx

😢 it’s so hard. I just read your post and was like I know exactly how you’re feeling. I thought moving to double donor was the answer but there’s still so many hurdles. I would ask about the pgta because we were so shocked when 4 ready good quality were abnormal it was devastating. We moved on to donor embryo after rounds of double donor xxx

It was a donor embryo so think it will have been tested. Bleeding hasn’t got worse and cramping has eased but not necessarily a good sign as might end up a mmc. I’m just finding it so hard but rest appreciate your messages and support. Xx

Sorry to see what you're going through. It's heartbreaking when you've already been through loss and it really sounds like you've put a lot into testing and adapting your medicine protocol. Have you been able to speak to your clinic yet?

Thinking of you x

Spoke to them earlier. Not really much they can do. They are going to contact me again tomorrow and just said to rest and keep taking my medication.

Things have eased off but really don’t think it’s a good sign. Stomach cramps were quite like period pain although maybe only lasted 2-3 hours. Xx

I would also ask about PGS testing and up your steroid dose (my doctor said anything less than 25mg was useless). I am so so sorry x

Thanks, I think they were tested but I think it’s a case of waiting and seeing at the moment. Xx

I'm so sorry you are going through this, it is heart breaking.

I would strongly recomend getting your doctor/GP to refer you to Tommys trust who specialise in miscarrages.

I self refered and my NK cells were high (this was checked with a biopsy) but they can be also too low. they also look at other things.

I wish I had the right words to help you through this but I don't as there aren't any (I remember thinking I could go into a very dark place right now but the drive to have a child pushed me to keep going) just take one day. hour, minute at a time.

I also wanted to give you hope. after 3 miscarrages I did go on to have my son xx

Thank you. Once I know what’s happening I will get in touch with my GP. I have previously had NK cells checked with a biopsy and all was ok. Hysteroscopy confirmed healthy uterus and no endometriosis etc. Bleeding stopped after a few hours as did cramping, not really sure that’s a good sign or not but hopefully find out more over next few days. Thanks for your reply. It definitely helps hearing about positives after the worst. Xx

I'm so sorry to read your post. I really hope it isn't the worst. I had two early miscarriages so know how hard it is. Have you been seen by the early pregnancy unit? If it is bad news, I second getting referred to Tommy's specialist unit. I keep hearing good things about them.

Please take care of yourself. Xx

Thank you. Will see if I can get referred when things become clearer. Xx

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this again. I’ve been where you are and it’s heartbreaking. Hopefully the fact the bleeding and cramping has stopped is a good sign. Can your clinic offer you hcg and repeat again on Wednesday? It might help to give you a picture of what is happening. When you had your biopsy, did they check for endometritis? It’s an infection that occurs in the uterus. It can be treated by antibiotics. Aside from that, have you had your progesterone levels checked? If you can get hcg checked, ask them to check progesterone too. It may be that your dowses are not high enough to sustain a pregnancy. Some people need extra high doses if the body does not absorb it well and there are different forms of progesterone which might be absorbed better if this were an issue. I hope for now the bleeding stops and you can get some answers. Hoping the very best for you 🙏🏻

Thank you. Yes definitely don’t have endometriosis as have had hysteroscopy and all was healthy. Have had progesterone checked and increased. I’m taking utrogestan pessaries as well as Prolutex injections. I’m going to try to get HCG test again. Thanks for your reply. It seems to have stopped for the moment. Xx

Hi, it's endometritis not endometriosis which the test checks for. Endometritis is a bacteria / infection in the uterus which can affect implantation etc. The hysteroscopy would have ruled out endometriosis but only a biopsy will tell you if you have endometritis. Hope things are going OK and the clinic / your GP are helping you get some answers.

hey there. I’m so sorry it’s not working for you. The one thing that jumps out at me in connection with miscarriage is that you’re taking aspirin. Isn’t aspirin a potential cause for miscarriage as it thins the blood? Are you on aspirin because the consultant prescribes it? I’m no medical person at all so I could be entirely wrong I’m just aware that during pregnancy aspirin (any NSAIDs) aren’t allowed. So just wondering if this is having an adverse affect? Clutching at straws for you as I know this is very difficult for you xxxx

Thank you. I’ve actually had test (for recurrent miscarriage) which says I need it as my blood is prone to clotting. Xx

ahh okay. That makes more sense. Really hope you get some results. I also think contacting Tommy’s is a good idea they specialise in recurrent miscarriage and you should be eligible after 2 (now the rules changed rather than 3)

i had a similar history to you and bled similarly with my last and final (successful) pregnancy. Healthy little girl now. Could just be bleeding which is common. Keep taking the meds. I hope I’m right. I know how hard and scary this is. 💜💜

Kmcdon profile image
Kmcdon in reply toMsze

Thank you. That gives me hope. Pregnancy symptoms haven’t gone which I’m taking as a positive although last miscarriage was a missed miss so quite worried it’s the same thing again. Only time will tell which is the hardest part. So glad you got your little girl though, that gives me hope. Xx

trying doing test for nk killer cells and thrombosis. On this pregnancy I’m in now I also took Intralipid to help immune system not attack embryo. Before you did Ivf I presume progesterone levels were good and endometrium thick enough? Are embryos pgs tested? I’ve had 8 miscarriages

Kmcdon profile image
Kmcdon in reply toCorchi

Thanks for your reply. I’ve already done tests for NK and thrombosis and all fine. Progesterone level was good as was lining. I think the embryos are tested as they are donated, but something I’ll check next time. I will look into to the intralipid the next time. Xx
