Successful pregnancy after a laparoscopy?

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy following a laparoscopy for a diagnosis and treatment for tubal issues? My blood test suggested past infection to Chlamydia and hence I am having a laparoscopy next week as suggested by my consultant. I couldn't be offered a HSG or HyCoSy as the clinic I was referred to by my GP does not offer these to a private patient (I am not eligible for a NHS surgery as I'm not a UK citizen or permanent resident ). But I just heard that tubes would get blocked again after a surgery anyway and it actually could make the scarring and damage worse. On the other hand I can find information that a laparoscopy has no or few adverse effects on fertility (suggesting it'd cause further damage?) - so I am really confused. I am self-paying this aand feeling a bit panicked thinking perhaps this is a very expensive mistake... I decided to do this because (1) I'm really tired of waiting - due to a number of house relocations I'd waited 3 years to see a fertility consultant, (2) it can tell me whether I have any tubal issues for certain, and (3) otherwise I wouldn't be considered for NHS funded IVF if I need it. But I wouldn't want to pay over £4300 to get badly damaged tubes in the future.... any advice or insights, or any positive outcome after a laparoscopy would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much in advance, and I hope everyone is doing okay. x

So a laparoscopy is the name for keyhole surgery on the abdomen that in itself would have no effect on your fertility as it is just a small insisone on your tummy for a camera to go through. Hundreds of people have laparoscopys for all sorts of reasons.

Are they planning on doing anything other than just looking around inside you? If they are then you need to discuss with your doctor the possible side effects. Below is a link to the NHS website which explains what a laparoscopy is.

Hi Bella. Try not to worry too much about having a laparoscopy as they are usually straightforward with no side effects. Often it is referred to as a “Lap and Dye”. The dye part is checking your Fallopian tubes for any blockages, so you could ask if that is included. Obviously, I wish you well and success with any treatment you have, Diane
