Does anyone have any success stories of ICSI working after having their tubes removed?
After undergoing three cycles last year (two failed and one successful but ended in miscarriage) I was recommended to go and see a gynaecologist who specialises in fertility. Fast forward a couple of months and an MRI has recently shown fluid in both tubes. I’m booked in for a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy in two weeks and it’s looking like my tubes could be removed. I’ve a mix of emotions, frustrated that this hasn’t been picked up by my fertility clinic at any point in my 3 previous cycles. I’ve always been told I have unexplained infertility! But yet somewhat happy that after not being able to conceive and having experienced multiple failures I might finally have some explanation now.
I have one frozen egg left which I plan to get transferred soon after the laparoscopy. Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m feeling like I’m approaching the last chance saloon and am super anxious. I’m also feeling anxious at what the surgery will find, the consultant said if my tubes look perfect on the day they will be left in - but I know they fill up, drain, then the same again…and then I feel no better off. I’d love to hear any words of wisdom or advice from this lovely network

Sorry you’re going through this awful journey and I think it’s terrible that the fluid wasn’t picked up beforehand, but as you say the fluid can come and go. For me, I didn’t have icsi but did have ivf after having one of my fluid tubes go. I did a cycle stupidly with the fluid in place and was unsuccessful…. I then had that tube removed and did a cycle around 3 months after and that was a success. So removing the tubes with the fluid is a giving you the best possible chance of success. I completed understand how you may feel in having it removed but I just said to myself if this is going to give me the best possible chance then i have to do it. Good luck xxxx
Hey 💗 so sorry they didn’t pick it up sooner. I firstly had my tubes clipped whilst having cyst surgery but when I had to have second cyst surgery they removed my tubes completely plus half my left ovary. This was before IVF. I had quite a poor response but got two beautiful embryos 😊. Fresh was a chemical and our fet cycle in November was successful 🥰 Good luck lovely with surgery and it’s definitely best to remove them if they are filling/leaking xx
Hiya, I’m currently waiting for my IVF referral to go through after having both tubes removed one due to an ectopic pregnancy rupture and the other i had a blocked tube. I was always told I couldn’t have IVF until the blocked tube was removed as the toxins from the fluid leaks into the womb so your chances of IVF being successful are a lot lower. I can’t believe your clinic didn’t pick this up. Definitely have the tube removed before your next cycle. Good Luck with everything xx
