When to give up.....?

So today I got a BFN on my latest round. Was my 7th in total but 5th failed transfer (nothing to transfer in the other 2). It was our 3rd transfer with donor eggs. I know I have some immune issues and they've tried various options to treat them- prednisole, tacrolimus, IVIG, granocyte. How do you decide whether its worth keeping going or time to stop. Any advice or thoughts welcome, I'm so fed up today.

Hi river242 Very sorry to hear your news, I know it must be very deflating and upsetting. I don't know your full history but it sounds like you've really been through a lot and have bounced back and tried different things, in all honesty you must be exhausted with it.

In terms of whether to keep going I think its such a personal decision. I would certainly not make any rash decisions until you have debriefed with your clinic and heard what they have to say.

Out of interest have you tried more than one clinic whilst you've been going through treatments? Sometimes a second opinion can be helpful.

Have you had things like your progesterone checked prior to transfer?

Take good care x

Thanks for replying, probably just feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight. The first 4 were with a clinic in Scotland, we then moved to Spain where we've had the last 3. They've been really thorough with testing, progesterone is now fine but I had to switch from pessaries to lubion after first transfer with them as it was far too low. We have 2 further blastocysts in our package though no actual ones so it'll be getting matched with another donor now. I feel like I do want to see that through but also just wonder how much point there is now.

I’m sincerely sorry for your loss. Has any of your donor eggs implanted?

I’m on the donor journey too, we’ve a KIR mismatch so we changed donor, ive had one transfer with new donor and Granulocyte med but sadly led to MC back in January. We are travelling to Spain next month for another transfer but alike you, I really don’t know if our journey has reached an end or not 😔

Sorry to hear you've not had success yet. No nothing implanted. We did have a natural pregnancy a couple of years back that ended in mc at 6 weeks but none of the IVF embryos have taken. They haven't mentioned KIR mismatch to me but its something I definitely need to ask about I think.

Have you had a test to check your implantation window? It would be worthwhile asking your clinic, I think it’s called ERA.

I’d never heard of KIR, I think some clinicians think it’s pointless but we are prepared to give all options a go. I really hope you find answers and reach a decision, take your time and ask your clinic why.

Yes I had a biopsy where they did ERA and the immune profile. Window was fine but I wasn't absorbing the pessaries well so needed to switch to lubion. Thank you - I'll have lots of questions for them soon. Wishing you well too.

I’m so sorry river242 the feelings of grief that come with every cycle that doesn’t work out as hoped are so hard. I don’t know your situation but many others have success with double donor/ donor embryos when own genetics haven’t given them their baby. Sometimes there just isn’t the technology to pin point exact sperm/egg issues.. I appreciate you’ve two embryos left and may gather the strength to try these in the near future xx
