5 weeks pregnant, bleeding and cramping

Yesterday I was 5 weeks 1 day pregnant, the day before I had really bad cramping and was sleeping a lot. I went to the toilet yesterday and saw that was had a small amount of bleeding it was brown/dark red with very small clots. The cramping has continued but the bleeding seems to have stopped. I'm taking 4 cyclogest pessaries a day as this is ivf so I'm not sure if I have miscarried and not fully bled due to the progesterone support. My clearblue tests still read 3+ but again not sure this really indicates too much as I haven't fully bled. The cramping definitely feels like you get just before a period.

I had all sorts of cramping, I never had red just pink and also brown, now they are 2 and 4.5months old. my first bfp I had the same but lost it with no symptoms other than fading lines on fr tests. truth is, unfortunately noone can tell you if it's normal or not, sadly another ride on the ivf roller-coaster ❤️❤️ sit tight lovely xxc

First off: congratulations. I would recommend you get to the emergency immediately. If it is preterm labor they most likely can stop it since it just started. I had bleeding also throughout my pregnancy but no cramping. Make sure to drink lots of water that will help with your cramping. Wishing you all the best.

if there’s a miscarriage it’s most likely there’s nothing they can do to ‘stop it’ unfortunately at this early stage but I would agree a visit or phonecall to your local EPU would be a good idea since you have pain and some bleeding. I hope it works out okay xx

Sorry to hear this. I'm in a a very similar situation to you boy I've turned 6 weeks today so I'm calling the clinic who will arrange for me to see the EPU and probably scan me there.

The waiting is just the worst but I really believe for both of us it could go either way as there are lots of positive /unsuccessful sorties in equal numbers.

I had a very similar experience, I even had quite a heavy bleed and clots. I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant, I’m really hope it’s just one of those things and it all works out for you! Seems quite common early bleeding in ivf pregnancies❤️
