Not quite sure what I’m after here. I’ve woke in the night and began to have cramps. I went to the bathroom and found that I am bleeding lightly. Not sure what to make of this but I’d like to know what people have experienced as I’m aware this might not be the worst but it could be the start of the end. I’m on the fence whilst also having a bit of a cry 😢. I’ve already emailed my clinic but we are nhs so I don’t expect they will do much other than tell me to wait.
Update: the cramping seems to have stopped but I just went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a clot of blood.

Hi, please visit A&E asap. They will be able to check your cervix to see if there is active bleeding and whether or not your cervix is open or closed. Same thing happened to me in my first trimester and thankfully after seeing 2 clots they said there was no active bleeding after checking my cervix. They may refer you to epu for a scan. For me, they could not find hematoma.
Hey, I have a scan booked in for this afternoon privately and I’ve contacted my clinic. How heavy was your bleeding? Did they give you any explanation for why this might be happening? I haven’t had cramping since and now I just wiped and it was watery brown so just old blood rather than how it was initially. Praying that’s the end of it and I don’t get bad news this afternoon. Thanks for taking the time to respond x
I had 2 clots with bleeding then put a pad on and went to A&E where they did all the checks to confirm my cervix was closed and no active bleeding. They also checked my pad which wasn't heavy. Was told bleeding happens in early pregnancy. Could be that I was on clexane and my zinc interacted with it as I later found out it had holy basil in the ingredients. My little boy will be 7 weeks tomorrow. Hope your scan goes well. You could have had the checks done at A&E then epu referral on same day. Private scans, they are quick to get you out...but you will get some nice pictures x
You can go to your EPU at the hospital. There should be a phone number for it online. It is usually attached to gynaecology and they will usually offer you a scan to see what’s going on. As the poster said below, they can also check the neck of the womb/cervix to see if it’s opened or closed. When I experienced this, I called 111 and this is what they told me to do. My outcome wasn’t good but there are lots of people who have gone on to have successful pregnancies following bleeding in early pregnancy. I hope everything is ok and you can put your mind at ease. Thinking of you xx
Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I have contacted the clinic and I have also booked a private scan in for this afternoon. It seems to have stopped. I haven’t had cramping since and when I last went to the bathroom it was pale, watery brown when I wiped. I’m so sorry you had a bad outcome, I am bracing myself for the same but have some hope still.
I had this a few times - not the clot but cramps and bleeding. All was fine so far but I got myself in for a scan every time it happened. Are you with an IVF clinic? If so they should encourage you to come in asap (mine did) and if not, the EPU will do the same. I was always told by every doc/nurse I saw that I did the right thing by going in - any bleeding in pregnancy, while often fine, needs to be looked at.
Hey, thanks for replying. I contacted my clinic which is nhs and I also contacted a private clinic who do early scans and I haven’t heard from my clinic yet but I have a scan at the other place at 2:40pm today. I just went to the bathroom and there was just a watery brown discharge when I wiped so I think the bleeding has halted for now.
thanks for replying, were they able to identify this for you on a scan? My cramps were about a 4/10 on the pain scale. The bleeding has currently stopped.
