Progesterone levels too LOW for 5weeks pregnant after FET?

*UPDATE*

Be careful when using medichevks for progesterone checks if you handle progesterone and have medication in your fingers daily.!!

I had a blood retest today as didn't believe the high figures that came back and it's back down to 50nmol 15ng/ml! Medichecks who did my bloods said occasionally with finger prick testing you can have contamination from progesterone pessaries that can stay on the skin for up to 2 weeks! Now i'm worrying that 52nmol )(16mg/ml) is too low 🫤 I have some cyclogest pessaries that my clinic prescribed me to use as a top up that i hadn't started as wanted to see what my bloods were doing after upping the utrogestan. I guess I'd better start them!

Hi pinky. I suppose there could be the possibility of twins?? You need to speak to the clinic/GP regarding what progesterone you should be taking now. Good luck! Diane

Thanks Diane - I don't think so as only one sac seen at 4wk+5 & no corpus luteum to produce double amount of progesterone as was an FET so all coming from my drug dosage if i'm understanding the twins/progesterone thing right... But i've just never heard of it being as high as that?

Hi pinky. Whatever is causing it, I hope all turns out well. Diane xx

Thank you - have you ever seen this before?

Hi pinky. Yes, with too much medication. Diane

Oh gosh really? But is it too late to reduce progesterone? Can that not cause a miscarriage?

Hi pinky/ Not if done slowly. See what your clinic advises. Diane

ok thank you Diane. Is there a risk to the baby with levels this high?

Hi pinky. Your 6-7 weeks scan is not far away, so try and stop worrying and look forward to meeting your little "bean". Diane

thank you Diane. Just so terrified to do anything wrong - it's my last and only embryo after ovarian failure so it's last chance scallon terrified to let anything that could damage things go unchecked 🙈 I am scanning on Monday when i will be 6wks x

hi pinky when you say you had a bleed diagnosed on a scan do you mean they could see the cause of the bleeding on the scan and if so what was the cause? If it’s a subchorionic hematoma that wouldn’t have anything to do with progesterone levels is my understanding and my clinic didn’t recommend doing anything progesterone related when I had one (although I cheekily added in another pessary myself just be sure for a few weeks!) what have the clinic said about your levels now at 50 and whether you should start taking the additional progesterone? Xx

Yes they said it looked like a haematoma. So i was cramping a lot and apparently increasing progesterone can both relax the uterus to stop cramping and help speed up the resolution of haematoma d according to research... I'm just waiting to hear back from the clinic RE my blood levels being back down to 50 but I have started on the extra cyclogest they have given me as before had only increased my utrogestan slightly which i wanted to see what difference it had made.... Am praying that the combo of lentogest, Uttogestan 600mg) crinone (x2) & cyclogest 800mg will ge enough to boost the levels a bit. Not sure what they can do after that unless they add a s/c daily injection of prontogest or something...

the main thing with the hematoma is lots of rest hope it resolves quickly for you 🤗 our bleeding stopped at 10 weeks and couldn’t be seen anymore in scan at 8 weeks but there was lots of bleeding and clots in between that time so I know it’s a really scary time 😥 xx

oh wow you had lots of bleeding after it looked like it had gone? Did you do bed rest?

Twiglet2 profile image
Twiglet2 in reply topinky30

no sorry I mean lots of bleeding between 5-8 weeks 2 really large bleeds with clots and constant bleeding in between. I had bleeding for 2 weeks after it was no longer seen on the scan but finally tapered off to brown by around 10 weeks and completely fine by 12 xx

oh gosh that's scary. i had lots of bleeding in my first IVF pregnancy with big clots & A&E visit but they never found anything. this time they saw the bleed on scan a week ago but i haven't had any actually bleeding yet. i have been trying to rest in bed as much as I can but not always easy. I've been taking ALA and progesterone and magnesium for the cramps and praying g they will make it go away!

My clinics Uk and abroad said anything over 35nmol is fine. Mine was 47. This worried me a lot so I added an extra pessary and it went to 57. What is your current pessary dose/regime? X

pinky30 profile image
pinky30 in reply toMJE1

Ahh that's interesting. I'm just scared because zi know it can fluctuate and ummm nervous it could drop below 35... I think you did the right thing upping yourself...

I'm on lentogest 3 times a week, utrogestan vaginally 400mg per day & 100mg orally, 2 x crinone and now have just added 400mg cyclogest twice a day 🤞

What are you on?

MJE1 profile image
MJE1 in reply topinky30

initially 400x3 cyclogest. Got a bit panicky and added another one. That went up to56.

Had a bit of blood myself and clinic added in a Lubion shot, mainly to keep me quiet I think. So now 4x400 and 1x Lubion 25. I’ve not retested since. I also think the blood was from pessary irritation as it stopped when I stopped using them in the front. Then came back when I put one there a few days later. I use them in the back since and all ok x

just saw your update - they are awful! I bought 2 packages of blood tests off them, for different things but with a few overlapping bio markers and they came back with wildly different results for the Ones which should have been pretty much identical. 🤦‍♀️

wow - that's crazy! i had no idea they were so bad. Def won't be using them again in a hurry!!!!
