Tube removal and FET

Hi guys,

Had a HSG done yesterday and it confirmed I have a hydrosalpinx. Devastated as we were prepping for FET next month. Had a laparoscopy in Feb which didn't highlight a hydrosalpinx so it must be fairly new. Planning to go for surgery to remove my tube with the hydrosalpinx. Just wondering how long it takes to recover from tube removal? Did anyone go straight into a transfer month following removal or is this possible ? Thanks so much x

Recovery varies from person to person3-4 weeks if key-hole surgery longer if it is abdominal surgery - the do's and do nots should be discussed by the nurses after your surgery Your clinic will give you guidance as to when you can start your treatment

Good luck for the future

Hi there, as Janet said everyone is so different in terms of how quickly they heal, however from my experience it was a 6ish week recovery and my clinic's rule was I had to have a minimum of 1 natural period after the surgery before I could book in. It turns out when I rang to book that month was full and I was pleased as I did need more than 4 weeks to feel fighting fit and ready to put my body through anotherr round. I had success on my next transfer after the hydrosalpinx was sorted. I know we never know exactly what worked or why but I believe it was a huge factor and helped provide a much healthier environment for implantation.

Good luck! Xx

Thanks Lizzie. I know I will probably be the same as I was slow to recover from previous surgeries. You know yourself, a month extra can feel like a lifetime but I have to trust the process. Thanks a mill

hiya. I got diagnosed when we started our ivf journey with a hydrosalphinx. I had the surgery mid-September and then started ivf in the December. I think that was just how long it took for all ladies to start to be honest rather than it being related to my surgery as I had to wait for next period and then start on the following cycle after that. Good luck xx

Hi lovely, so sorry to hear hope you're doing okay ❤️

I had both of mine removed and my consultant said once you've had a period you can go ahead if you feel ready! As others have said I'm sure it'll depend on your recovery as there is the possibility you'll need open surgery rather than keyhole and they recovery time is a fair bit longer

We weren't able to go straight ahead as I wasn't eligible for IVF funding until they were removed and it took about 2-3 months to get everything sorted with the clinic!

Good luck if you're looking for any advice for the surgery I've got a couple of posts with some really helpful replies from the ladies on here

xx
