Fallopian tube removal: Hi ladies, just... - Fertility Network UK
Fallopian tube removal
Hi there. I have had both tubes removed by keyhole surgery. I have had keyhole procedures before, just to treat endometriosis, and had no new side effects, in fact tummy more comfortable, just the wounds to heal. xx
Hi destiny121. So sorry to hear that you need to have this done. Unfortunately, when hydrosalpinx occurs any excess lubrication that occurs naturally in the Fallopian tubes can only drain one way - into the womb. It is now widely believed that this excess fluid can prevent implantation of a developing embryo, so best to remove it/them. All very daunting, but I have many ladies who have had to undergo such a process, who have continued to have successful pregnancies. Your specialist will have your best interests at heart, so trust his/her diagnosis and remedy for the better. Just really wanted to wish you well with all of this and for success with any following treatment. Thinking of you. Diane
I had one removed after an unsuccessful private ivf, and the other clipped prior to ivf on the nhs both due to hydrosalphinx, and I truely believe it being clipped is what gave me my bfp
So I would highly recommend fixing the hydrosalphinx before you continue with ivf, wishing you lots of luck 🍀🍀 c
Hi leesalou, yes i do remember your story from a post i posted a few months ago, i prayer this works this time. Ive gt 4 embies frozen so hopefully second time round it will take.... how you doing and hows pregnancy treating you xx
I’m doing very well thank you, I’ve got 7 weeks to go tomorrow 😬, still can’t believe it and won’t until his there, I’ve had a rough one with lots of sickness, heartburn, and just worrying non stop, I hope it’s your time really do, have you had the operation now? When is tour next round, sending you lots and lots of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀 xx
Ohh wow 7 weeks.... not long now lady 😊😊 what a journey huhh...... wish you the best and hope you have a easy labour!! My op is the 28th march... then ill be doing a transfer june/july i think. Thats a hood point how long did u wait after having the op to a cycle? Xx
Thank you 😊
I had my operation in dec 2016
Had to have a check up in March 2017 with the nhs
then see the ivf clinic in April to discuss options
Then had to go on the pill on my June period and started my cycle In July 17,
But it was held up because when I had my check up in March they realised I wasn’t immune to rubella so had to have that done and had to wait a month then to be check was immune, luckily that was and we could move on, so may of been able to of started earlier if I was immune, it took me 2 weeks to recover fully after my opt, soon come round for your operation, make sure you take time off and relax after so you heal xx
Ahhh thank you for sharing x
Hi
I actually had this surgery done yesterday. I was told I had Hydrosalpinx in October 2017 and was told it would need to be removed as this was the thing stopping me from getting pregnant.
The surgery yesterday went as well as can be and I had one tube removed, I’ve hd no side effects (maybe a little early to tell) I’m just sore where the wounds are. I’ve got a follow up appointment in 6 weeks.
Good luck for your surgery, is the Hydrosalpinx effecting one tube or both?
Xx
Hi lucy,... glad the op went well. When i was originally diagnosed 2 years ago it was in both..... but then i had surgery to drain both tubes. 2 years on they can only see it in one tube on all of my scans. So im praying with the op its only in the one tube 🙏🙏
Fingers crossed for you that it’s just the one tube.
They originally thought mine was 2 then it was 1 then they did surgery and found it was actually just one and they drained a cyst on one of my ovaries.
Make sure you rest after your op. Good luck with it all xx
