I wanted to share my journey so far as despite how common they are I haven't seen too much discussion on fibroids and fertility here. I have found the messages shared on here so helpful as my knowledge has been limited and most of my journey has been impacted by the added complication of Covid. I spent a long time trying to get clarity on whether my fibroids were impacting my fertility and effectively got timed out of NHS fertility options due to ageing out while waiting for referrals over several years. I opted to do IVF privately ahead of an open myomectomy which I am currently recovering from. I only did one round which produced 4 eggs and 2 made it o frozen embryos.
I was advised my womb effectively was completely compressed by uterine fibroids but my AMH was good for my age so we are gambling on trying naturally at least initially once I am cleared to start trying in around 3 months hopefully with a back up if needed.
My surgery resulted the removal of over 10 substantial sized fibroids but I haven't been given too much detail as this was lal no the NHS.
I am now focusing on recovery and want to make the most of the window the surgery has given me but being over 40 would be grateful for any advice around recovery and preparing to try naturally with my partner as well as thoughts on further ivf. I am very active so recovery is pretty frustrating but I don't want to do anything to delay things. I feel like everyone is really knowledgeable on here and I am just learning as I go. I initially overdid it when got home from the hospital so I want to make sure I get the balance right.
Thanks
