Ok, so I am just timing intercourse, and I will not be using a trigger shot or going in for IUI this cycle. This is a mostly natural cycle, without too much stimulation.
I am on my first day of injecting 75 IU of Menopur and im taking Estradiol twice daily "up there" as well.
I will be taking the injections for 5 days. I guess I'm trying to figure out how many follicles I might have after I'm done, or how big they will get by the time Ovulation hits. Anyone had any success with this? I responded really well to an 150 IU Gonal-F during my IUI. I think I had 8 follicles total.
This is completely different than anything I've done before, and I'm scared that nothing will happen, or I won't ovulate. I guess I'm mostly concerned that the dose isn't high enough to do much for me, but I'm not really sure. Please help!

Hello! I’ve not experienced this protocol before but will your clinic be scanning you at all? They should be able to monitor how well the meds are working this way x
Hi Bet4ya, I had the same dosage when I was doing IUI and it gave me either one or two follicles each time which would be all you want if you're doing timed intercourse. Sounds like you respond well to the meds so I wouldn't worry about it not doing anything. Fingers crossed for you.
Was it the same amount of days as I'm doing? I am concerned that it's not going to be enough. Did your follicles grow really well? Any idea what their size was?
I conceived on my first cycle of IUI and then went on to have others which weren't successful and moved to IVF. With the IVF, I also seemed to get about 8 follicles on 150 menopur so in and around the same as you. With the IUI I conceived I had 2 follicles that were measuring 18mm after 8 days of stims and then they triggered. I wasn't on any estradiol though. The follicles will still continue to grow after stims, some people who are at risk of OHSS on an IVF cycle will stop with the stims and 'coast' to ovulation. If you're worried, would you ask the clinic to scan you after your 5 days? Just so you know what's going on and to put your mind at ease. Then if the follicles aren't the size you want maybe you could do another day or two of stims.
Well here's the thing... I'm doing this at home. Looked over my previous cycles and realized that the fertility clinic went through with the IUI, even though my blood work was showing that my estrogen and progesterone were both pretty low the entire time. I didn't even realize it until later. Decided to try this myself. So I started taking the meds based on what I did before, only I've added the estradiol 2mg twice a day to hopefully get my estrogen levels up over the usual 119 mark that I had before until I ovulate. I can't find much about what day to stop the estradiol before ovulation though. I'm using OPK as well looking for that surge, and soft cups for when we actually start trying for conception. Seems like they took thousands of dollars from me knowing that the cycles wouldn't work. They were going to change from gonal f to Menopur if I kept going to the next cycle anyway, and add the estradiol to the mix. I guess they could clearly see it was too low for a successful conception, and were like "well hey... I guess we can just address that when she comes back in again." Unreal. Any idea what day I need to stop the estradiol before ovulation? I believe I need to start progesterone right after I ovulate the same way I did after the IUI. If you know of anything, that would be amazing. Thanks for responding by the way... I needed this.
I do find that so frustrating with fertility cycles that they use a one size fits all approach and don't factor in your particular circumstances. I don't know much about the estradiol at all because they never looked at my levels at all, my clinic don't do bloods for either estrogen or progesterone so I can't really advise you on that. In a natural cycle estrogen falls just before the LH surge so up until then I suppose. Yes progesterone can be started after ovulation just like you did with IUI. It's great that you're taking charge of it yourself, you know your own body and trust in it and I really hope it all works out for you.
