I am on my second cycle after a failed one and it’s again only one follicles that is growing. I am wondering whether my doctor is using the right protocol. He did not tell me anything about options of protocols but after googling, I realised that I am on a mini IVF also called mild IVF. I take Clomid for 3 days starting on day 3 of my cycle and a meriofert injection of 150-450mg every other day until egg collection. Could you please tell me about other protocols? What meds are used? From when and what dosages? I read in other posts some ladies had very different results with different protocols, like the short protocol. I am wondering what it is? Thanks a lot

Short was something like this: on day 2 started with Menopur 150, on day 4 Cetrotide and I had stimulation just for 8 days, trigger shot Ovitrelle 250, they collected 7 eggs - 5 mature.
I cannot say that the quality of eggs was better than on long protocol.
I had every day Menopur for 8 days, on 9th day a triggered and 36 hours later I had my egg retrieval.
I've had two different protocols. Short was: norethisterone to time period and then start menopur on first day of period followed by cetrotide a few days later and buserelin as the trigger before EG. Long was: buserelin from day 21 to down regulate and then start menopur and gonal f on day 7 of subsequent period with ovitrelle as trigger injection.
Thank you very much for sharing the details runuphill. Regarding the short cycle: was it daily menopur injections until trigger? How much was the menopur dose? Regarding the long cycle: you started the menopur only on day 7, so you had less injections than in the short cycle as in the short cycle the injections started on the first day?
My dose has changed after scans in both protocols. I started on 225 of Menopur in short protocol. Menopur was taken daily until trigger. The long protocol is more injections. At least 50 in my case. It takes up to 6 weeks whereas the short protocol (not counting norethisterone tablets) took less than 2 weeks.
They put your cycle to sleep so I'm not really sure. No idea what long protocol results will be as I'm still taking the drugs now.
Hi Lilly - just seen your reply to my post. I am short protocol and am on 450 Menopur usually from day three / this is max dose available and due to my age. I did one round of long but it didn’t work whereas short had a much better result and I even made it to blasto round 2 but round 3 some of the follicles responded really quickly so we had less so did a day 3 transfer.
With my long protocol I down regulated with buserelin from day 21 for nearly 2 weeks before I started on the Menopur.
