Hi all, for our next cycle I will be given IVIGs in an attempt to suppress my NK cells which we’ve found are in the high range. I won’t be taking steroids/intralipids, just the IVIG infusions.
My question is around just how careful I need to be when on the immune suppression treatment??
Our doctor has been quite vague and just said to ‘take care’ but I’m not actually sure what that means in practice! I can easily work from home more and as it will be during the summer I’m feeling a bit more relaxed about there being less germs around. However we have a holiday planned for the end of September and depending on when we start our cycle I could still be in the first trimester (if by some miracle this works finally!) and so still immune suppressed. I don’t know whether it’s totally ridiculous of me to even be considering getting on a plane in that state or whether I’m completely overthinking things.
It frustrates me so much that all our plans are so dictated by treatment as it is but part of me really doesn’t want to cancel the holiday because if this next cycle doesn’t work we’ll really need something to look forward too!
Would really appreciate anyone else’s view on their experience of being on IVIGs and how careful you needed to be in terms of not going out and about too much (or getting on a flight!)
