Hi ladies.

Anyone taken norethisterone to induce period?

Did you take it for 5 or 10 days.

Very stressed currently. Due to start my next IVF cycle but my period is later after being on Prostap.

The clinic is taking the last treatment on the 1 Dec as it needs to have a deep clean in theatre.

That gives me 13 days from tomorrow to start taking the medication and come on my period.

How many days after stopping did you get your period?

Sorry long stressy post. Jenny x

Hi Jenny, I think 10 days used to be standard but the last few times I’ve had it it’s been for 7. Your period usually starts about 2-4 days after, sometimes a little longer.

It’s so much stress which I’m sure you could do without but I’m sure you’ll be fine! Good luck xx

Thank you for the reply.

If I get the prescription tomorrow o think il take them for 7 days then il hopefully come on before the 1st.

I wouldn’t normally rush it but just so worried about the adenomyosis coming back and needing Prostap again which was hell. Hence wanting to get started again asap x

I’ve taken them for five days. The time it takes to bleed after the last tablet has varied for me (I have had norethisterone so many times) from 2/3 days - 7/8 days. I’m sure they’re happy with the timescale else they’d have held off if they thought it wouldn’t be possible. Have faith 🥰

Hiya I had to take these tablets for 14 days and wait for my cycle to start they say it can take up to 7 days but can also come within 3-4 days after stoping them well mine came on the 6th day was definitely stressing but had to calm myself as all fell into place as it was meant to.

Try not to stress as it can mess up ur cycle wishing you all the best x

Hello I know this is an old post, but how many 5mg tablets did you guys take? My doctor told me to take two but the packet says 3 🤔

Most recently my consultant told me to take one twice a day for two weeks. But it can vary, I think my consultant advises twice a day for 14 days to try and induce a heavier bleed because my lining is always really thick. But I have been on 3 times a day for 5 days in the past as well as 2 tablets twice a day. Basically what I'm getting at is it can be taken in many ways and I've always had a bleed after finishing them no matter the dose. Hope this helps!

That does help thanks! For my first round for baby #1 I think I took it just twice a day, but I can't remember as it was in 2020. My last failed cycle it was three tablets. I wonder how they decide the dose

I honestly don't think they have a rhyme or reason for the dose and think sometimes it depends on the consultant and their preference. However, I think the minimum dose to induce a bleed is one twice a day. After I finished mine this time I a bleed around 3-4 days later which lasted for about 6 days so it was adequate for me. 🤞🤞 for your next cycle 💖

Thanks. I think I'm just super stressing because you know what this whole thing is like, and I want to do everything I can to get it right from my side. How's your fertility journey going?

Yes I 100% get it, this whole process makes you second guess things that you wouldn't normally even think twice about. If you are still unsure about your dose give your clinic a ring because it wouldn't be the first time a consultant says one thing and writes another so it won't do any harm I checking. I'm just over half way through my TWW, the longest two weeks known to man 😂😂

Ahhh it's agony isn't it! Like how imagine it is to watch paint dry haha. You just want to know, but then you don't. Is this your first go? I tested early last time but massively regret it as it was negative, but there's still hope and it just makes you even more anxious. I'd hold out if you can! Fingers crossed for you!!
