Hi ladies. Did anyone get prescribed a Cabergoline after the Egg collection? Had my egg collection today, doctor said I may be at risk of overstimulating, so was prescribed these pills. 1 pill per day. However on the information leaflet says ' you should take care not to become pregnant for at least 1 months after you stopped treatmen' ( this is a quote from the leaflet). My transfer is in 5 days, these pills will take me into day 3 post transfer. Really confused! How contradicting. Clinic is closed for today and I am very uncomfortable taking the first pill tonight as I AM planning/hoping to get prrgnant within next month.

I had this. Mild OHSS and I felt rubbish after EC, ovaries felt like bunches of grapes!! I remember taking cabergoline and a load of other stuff afterwards. I would imagine they'll be doing freeze all to give you time to recover. That's what happened to me. They won't want to transfer if you're already overstimulated as pregnancy makes OHSS worse and you can get really, really sick.I know it's not what you want and not what you planned, but I'm sure you'll hear the same from many others on here that it's DEFINITELY for the best.
The extra wait is frustrating, but it'll give you time to get back to 100% before your precious embies are on board. Good luck, hope your poor overstimulated ovaries yielded up lots of lovely eggs that grow up into nice strong blasts!!
I have a prolactinoma (tumour in my pituitary which messes with my hormones) and have to take cabergoline to have a cycle at all to be able to conceive (also take it during ivf cycles). The doctor has just asked me to stop when I get a BFP.
Many ladies take it for this reason and the endocrinologist consultant says it’s very safe.
I had this on the round that resulted in my baby. If I recall correctly the course is fairly short - about a week. So by the time the baby implants your course will be done.
Yes I was prescribed these - and had a fresh transfer 5 days later. I literally took them for 3 or 4 days I think. Its very normal and my clinic said to ignore the small print! x
Did you feel ok after egg collection? How many eggs were collected? Why did they prescribe these to you? Other ladies suggest the embryos should br frozen but you went ahead with the fresh transfer? Was you not scared that your transfer/pregnancy will makr you very poorly. I had my EC yesterday and today am feeling fine. Had a 1st good nights sleep in 5 nights or so. The clinic is suggesting an 5 day transfer on Monday but I am so scared
They prescribed me with it as my oestrogen levels were high which is a marker for OHSS. I actually only got I think 9 eggs and normally people think of OHSS when you have a lot more than that but it can just be about levels of hormones in your blood. To be honest I wasn't scared at all, I trust my clinic and that they know what they are doing and loads of people on here have been given it. I didn't have that many embryos so rather than risk freezing they just put them all back in. How many did you get? I felt fine in myself, a little sore from EC but otherwise ok and never developed any other symptoms x
I was prescribed these, for only 5 days I think - but in my case we also did a freeze all cause they were worried about the over stimulation…. Good luck 🤞🤞x
It’s a weird one, isn’t it…
It was my first egg collection, and after blood tests and a scan two days before they said I was borderline over stimulating, so they changed the trigger shot, agreed a freeze all and gave me cabergoline for after - they collected 17 eggs. Which is quite a lot, but I felt fine! Slightly bloated but nothing bad…
Then on my recent third egg collection they didn’t do blood tests, but on the day of collection the doctor said I had 30 follicles and they collected 16 eggs - she wanted to recommend a freeze all, but I really wanted a fresh transfer so she agreed to decide on day 5 depending on how I felt and what they saw. I felt awful after the egg collection for about three days - really bloated and really unwell, but wasn’t prescribed anything and by day 4 I was back to normal 🤷🏼♀️
So they agreed to do a fresh transfer when on the day the doctor said ovaries looked fine….. (transfer didn’t work anyway, but hey ho).
xx
I have just finished an 8 day course of these (did you read the side effects- gambling and sexual appetite changes 😂) I developed severe ohss and was then also prescribed 5 days of fyremadel too. Im on freeze all so no fet till next year now as I also developed a PE x
