Hope you're having a good day. I went for my day 9 scan, preparing the lining with oestrogen tablets for FET. They did a scan and found my lining was triple layer and initially measuring 7.7mm .The doctor moved the probe around and the thickness kept getting less and less from 6.4 to 4.5mm. She wasn't sure why this was but ultimately it averaged at 6.2. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else? My previous FET cycle got cancelled as my lining spontaneously reduced after starting progesterone on day 16. Is my lining just clumpy? And if so, is that a bad thing?

My lining has always been fine but this FET on day 10 of oestrogen it was 10.7 and triple layer but there was quite an obvious section which was much thicker. The doctor had to be called in (cue panic) and he said it could be a polyp or just where it had sort of over-thickened due to too much oestrogen. I'm very sensitive to oestrogen but doctor said on balance to cancel as it could be something that affects implantation. He suggested an aqua and 3D scan at the next bleed to check it was nothing, then assuming it's all fine to start all over again on much lower oestrogen. That all sounded too much wasted time and I'd been so ill on the oestrogen, plus there was a real chance it was just 'rucked up' - like a carpet! Despite the nurse of doom telling me I had a 'one in a million' chance of implantation, I went ahead. I've had two fresh transfers with the 'perfect' lining and they ended in chemicals, and I have frosties, so I thought it was worth the risk. The lining was fine on transfer and had just evened itself out. It was a gamble though and I felt terrible when the doctor was telling me not to waste 'precious' embryos. It's a difficult process as it is without that pressure.
I don't know if that helps at all as I guess I didn't have the risk of it being too thin, which might be a different problem. Best of luck x
Thanks so much Orangejuice. It definitely helps. Sorry to hear that it didn't work out that time but good on you for going ahead and listening to your instincts. It's hard when people give you stats like 1 in a million. It's also helpful to hear about the aqua scan and 3D scan as options too. Best of luck with the next part of your journey xxx
I would say is common and normal to have it at different thickness. My clinic usually checks the lining on transfer day and they are releasing the embryo on the thickest point of your lining. Also lining can shrink after taking progesterone. I experienced this myself and on next transfer my doctor increased estrogen to 10mg and my lining on transfer day was 10.3mm. Take care 🤩💖💕
Hi Ranchu, that's so good to hear. I didn't realise that the linings not the same all the way through the uterus. Mine also shrunk a lot after taking progesterone and they canceled the last cycle. Congrats on your pregnancy. Wishing you all the best 💞💞
