Hello, I went for my scan today pre-FET and my lining is still at 6.5cm despite being that 1 week ago and upping the estrogen dose between now and then. I have been on estrogen for 3 weeks now and so they don’t think another week will change anything. The doctor said the structure all looks good and some people just have a smaller lining, but now I’m worried. I’m booked in for FET next Thursday but wanted to see if anyone has every had a successful implantation/pregnancy from such a thin lining?
Thanks!

I’ve been told the same, that some peoples lining just doesn’t go beyond a certain thickness, and as long as the structure is good then that isn’t necessarily a problem…. Once you start the progesterone that also gives it a little boost. I haven’t personally, but have seen cases of successful pregnancies with 5-6mm
My lining wouldn’t grow on a medicated FET my body just didn’t respond to synthetic estrogen, in fact when they upped my dose it got thinner. Swapping your a natural FET did the trick (as did ‘natural’ but using very low dose stims). I’ve heard of plenty of women having success with a thinner lining but if you decide not to go ahead this cycle and try again, I really recommend the above x
Hi i hope you don’t mind me asking if you ever got an explanation why your lining got thinner? I am just trying to understand. And once it gets thinner is there any chance to save this cycle?
No I didn’t but the nurse who did my scans says she’s seen it before when the doctors kept upping the estrogen doses and predicted it would happen so it can’t be that uncommon. My cycle couldn’t be saved we had to abandon. From then on we only did natural FETs where it was my own estrogen and that worked much better x
My dose wasn't increased. I stayed in the same dose and it got thinner. I guess i am waiting for the call to confirm that this is cancelled. Anyway thanks for your reply
Morning Rose. My lining was 6.5 just before we travelled to Cyprus for IVF. It didn’t grow much more but the doctor said the womb position was more important than the lining. I’m currently 6 weeks 😀
I struggled a little with my lining on some cycles and something that really made a difference for me was acupuncture. For my current pregnancy, I fit in a couple of sessions pre-FET and the clinic even offered a special pre- and post-transfer treatment to increase blood flow and help implantation on the day. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Can you try and get some sessions in now, to see whether it makes a difference? x
I am already doing accupuncture ☺️ Was doing 2 a week but the bank holiday meant I could only do once per week but I will definitely be doing pre and post transfer too xx
Ah amazing - well, you're doing all the right things! I'd also say that you have a week left at this point and then probably a couple of days before the embryo even begins to implant, so that's loads of time for the lining to get thicker. At my clinic, they want it around 8mm and actually you're only a tiny bit off that. Wishing you so much luck! x
Hi Rose! Doctors usually want your lining to be over 7 mm for FET. Mine could never reach that thickness so many of my cycles were canceled before they started transferring on thinner lining. Every lining check I would hope for at least 6 and get disappointed. I felt like my perfectly good embryos are going to waste because of poor lining. On my last transfer I told myself - trust your body that it can do it with what it has. I am not saying it was only positive thinking that did the trick but I am sure it helped. I got pregnant with lining bellow 5 mm. Good luck with whatever you decide.
Best of luck!! Linings can be such tricky things but your clinic is right that structure is super important and some people just naturally have thinner linings. So you sound like you're in a good place! They also won't transfer an embryo unless they are happy. I'd do a bit of yoga and walking between now and then to increase your blood flow but all fingers crossed for transfer 🤞🥰
If you do end up needing to go again (I really hope you don't!) then there's lots of things you can look into for another round. Patches + pills, a mild stimulation FET, etc. We had our best lining when we threw everything at it, including viagra hah.
Hi, reading this old post but am in same boat lining only 6.9mm at day 11 and am already on patches. I saw that you had success so wanted to ask if you managed to increase lining over the last few days before transfer x
