Annoyed - Lining not thick enough

Why can't something just go right the first time?!?! This is my first FET.

Went for my scan today and my lining is 1mm thinner than they'd like. So another week of Progynova and another scan.... so scared now that it won't get there... never had an issue with the lining before. So frustrated.

Nurse said it happens for 1/3 women and they just need longer on the estrogen tablets. Why am I always in the minority?!?!?

Would love to heard stories of others who've been in this situation.

I was in this situation! What is your lining at the moment, what do they want it at? My clinic upped my progynova and I was rescanned a couple of more times (also took vit E, superdrug 800IU)....got to around 7.3mm with a triple line then I was good to go and by the time I'd done progesterone and went for transfer my lining had gotten to 9.3mm. Hang on in there.....nothing ever seems simple for me either so I know how you feel!xx

Thank you for your reply. It's at 5.9mm and they want 7mm. So they upped my tablets to 4 and will get re-scanned next Wednesday. I wonder if there is a risk of getting too thick... especially if I try other ways of promoting circulation (hot water bottle, pomegranate juice, acupuncture, etc) Just seems crazy to me that with 3 tablets for 11 days it's at 5.9mm and to get it just a bit thicker I need 4 tablets for another 6 days... the math doesn't make sense but none of this ever does :/

I think by the end I was on 8 progynova per day! Ha ha ha And I tried everything else to promote lining growth, pomegranate juice, hot baths.....the lot. Mine still took its time to grow so Im sure it will be fine!xx

You are not alone out there trust me. I have just been to hell and back many times this last month regarding the exact same issue.

Try not to panic - which is easier said then done.

I was left on meds for considerable time and added in extra meds which did not help my situation.

So dont panic if they start to play with your meds. You just need to sit tight and keep seeing what your scans say. the hard bit is not been able to plan.

Would I be correct in you are going for a FET? What is you lining currently? Mine like yours was short by 1mm.

Basically if you start on your progesterone that is when the timings are important you can stay on your oestrogen for a good while.

I am not sure what concentrations of oestrogen you are on but they may ask you to include patches as well as tablets and also possible vaginal delivery re oral delivery.

PM me if you want to.

Just stick with it. I know how hard this is

Thank you. So far they have just upped it to 4 tablets. I'm at 5.9mm. The nurse reassured me it's just frustrating and annoying. It is an FET. Good luck to you... where are you at in the process now?

So sorry. Hang in there, though I completely empathise with how frustrating this is - all the curveballs you didn't even know were out there just get thrown at you. Our last round was cancelled for two reasons - they found fluid in my uterus but also my lining wasn't thick enough. Like you, I had no idea that was even a thing so I had breezed into the scan expecting to be told the date of transfer and was TOTALLY crushed. They kept me on oestrogen patches and extra supplements for a few more days to see if the lining would thicken and the fluid would go, but unfortunately it didn't work. My clinic told me these things often happen and were sooo offhand about it all I wanted to scream and punch someone. IVF is brutal in every way - you're waiting and waiting for every step, and when it doesn't go according to plan it's really devastating. So I really feel you right now. Desperately hope the oestrogen pills work for you though, sending all the positive vibes, let us know how you're getting on xx

Thank you and sorry you had to go through that. Just seems like you take one step forward and two steps back... sometimes 10 steps back... what a battle

It is a battle. So hard at times like this, but you are so much stronger than you realise. Thinking of you x

Same happened to me on my FET - had to do an extra week and up my tablets from 3 to 4 a day!! We got there just, a week later I was just over 7mm but with tri-layer!! Then by transfer day it was doing even better - then got my bfp but sadly miscarried at 10wks!!

Good luck & hang on in there - you’ll get there!! xx

Hi abcgirl, I had the same issue, with medicated cycle (oestrogen patches and tablets) couldn't get it about 4/5mm, even started bleeding as a period 2 weeks after my previous one, so after 3 months requested a natural FET. It still had medicated but not as much as was not started till later in the cycle, this resulted in a 7mm lining, and a bfp! Sadly I've been treated this week for medical management for a MMC, however have more Frosties to use (this was a DE cycle) and I will be using the same method again and sticking to natural. I feel like my body does not cope well with overdosing on oestrogen. I did add tablets at day 8 (which was my decision and not the clinics) but this is because I know the tablets alone have helped in previous cycles when added later on and still allows be to ovulate. I'm sure there's lots of ladies out there that just don't respond to high doses of fake oestrogen, and sometimes it's best just to let your body do its natural thing. I have always had regular cycles which I think also helped and have been pregnant 4 times naturally (miscarried all) so know my body knows what to do to get pregnant which was another reason for me requesting natural over medicated. I did also add clexane, lubion and steriods from 5 days before transfer and remained on 3 oestrogen tablets a day (all clinics advice) and would have been on all till 12wks. Xx

Sorry to hear of your losses and thank you for sharing.

Mine was 6.4 on the Wednesday & reaches 9.8 by transfer on the Monday (not a massive difference but the clinic were very happy). I was drinking 8oz of POM juice every day, took vit E, walking each day to get the blood flowing, lots of iron rich foods inc red meats which I don’t eat often usually & a bit of fertility yoga (on YouTube). Oh, & hot baths & hot water bottles every night. Good luck, I hope your lining suddenly has a growth spurt!! Xxxx

That’s interesting how different clinics do it because I was 5.9mm at my scan and they want me on tablets for another week. There will still be another 7 days after that on progesterone before transfer

Hi not sure if this worked or not but I took pregnacare conception royal jelly CoQ10 bee pollen had smoothies full of chia seeds maca flax seeds etc drank small glass of Pom juice on the lead up to ec and will till transfer and my lining was just over 10 x
