Hope you are well during these times! I was just after some advice. I’m having FET (not sure on date) and I’m currently on Estradiol 2mg three times a day.
I’ve been for my day 11 scan today and the lining was 7.9mm and my clinic likes it to be 9mm. They’ve asked me to have an extra tablet on the evening and I’m due another scan on Friday. Anyone had the lining thicken that much in 2 days?
It’s my first FET so I have no idea what to expect!
Thanks all ❤️

Hi there, the general guidance for lining is between 8 and 12 ...so you should be in the safe zone by the time you have your FET. I see your clinic says 9...well, ....8 is considered in the range (by 3 top clinics in London) so please do say that to them and ask them to give you medical literature (research) that proofs you otherwise if they get funny.
What you should have is not only the medication that helps lining to grow (you are on now?) but also medication to sustain the lining. There is cyclogest which is the standard pessary, tried and tested and you should be on that 400g x 2 per day for starters. They usually put you on that from the day you ovulate but you can pick up later on too. This is not expensive, circa £30 per pack privately that takes you through a week but you’ll need two packs for the “Two week wait”. You could also take Lubion which is an injection. I have previously done both and also cyclogest on its own. Ask your doctors what medication you should have to maintain your lining and suggest cyclogest (as minimum). Best of luck!!!! 🤗
Thank you for replying. I do have Utrogestan and Lubion to take at some point, not been told when to start yet but assuming will know more if they give me a transfer date. This is my third round of IVF but we’ve never had FET before so all very new to me and I like to overthink everything. Thanks for the luck xx
Your transfer date depends on whether you are on a short or long FET protocol. If you are on short protocol the date is set based on the embryos age, such as 3 day embryos or 5 day embryos. Effectively the day you ovulate is your day 0, and then based on what day the embryos were frozen...say day 5....then your transfer would be aligned to “your current cycle’s day 5” post ovulation day. I have not done long protocol FET and hopefully someone else can give you the outline on that In any case, you can always call your clinic and ask them to give you the outline of next steps end-to-end. They will do if you ask
My lining was less than 6mm at my day 11 scan both transfers. They upped my estrogen (I was taking 3x orally and 2x vaginally) and my lining was over 9mm for transfer.Your lining will continue thickening until you begin taking progesterone (normally around 5 days before transfer). The progesterone will then make your lining spongy.
I wouldn't worry about your lining thickness. I was so stressful about mine and my clinic didn't seem worried at all. It all ended up fine in the end.
Thanks for replying Chloe, that’s put my mind at ease. I think I will feel better once Fridays scan is done and I know more. Will definitely try not to stress!!
Your lining thickness sounds good. Don’t worry too much. My clinic like it to be above 7mm. My previous transfer it was only 7.4mm at the time of transfer. I was worried about it but I did get pregnant (MMC but clinic said this wasn’t anything to do with the lining)
Raspberry leaf tea, beetroot juice and vit e are good too! Best of luck! Xx
Thanks for replying and the tips. Will def try. It really helps getting advice from people that have gone through it, IVF is such a lonely place at times. Thank you x
My clinic requires a minimum of 7mm, 8 bring their ideal. I’ve read on here that some NHS clinics will transfer on 6.
I never got to 7, even with high doses of estrogen, so I decided to transfer on a 6.3 lining, I had a huge jump at the time of transfer to 8. Sometimes your lining continues to thicken even after you start the progesterone. However, it’s more important that your lining is triliminar.
I’ve read about many women who’ve had success on linings between 6 and 7, so Please don’t worry. Your lining is great!
Thanks so much for replying and putting my mind at ease. We’ve never managed a FET before as previously had nothing to freeze so all very new to me and trying to get my head around it. Thank you for the luck x
Mine was only 6.7 at transfer as I've always struggled with thickness so we went ahead anyway. My little girl is 7 weeks old from that. They say the 3 layer appearance is most important. Good luck xx
Hi gemlin, I am also on the same pyrogynova, and my lining scan after 10 days and was by 6,9mm. My clinic wanted a >8mm lining, so they asked for an additional scan two days later by Estradiol still being 3x a day. As my FET was my first, I was also sceptical as well. But two days later, my lining was 10mm!!! I wish you good luck 🤞
My lining can be a bit of a pest when it comes to thickening up but yours sounds like its well on its way and its amazing what an up in meds and a couple of days can make. Good luck.xx
