Ovulation After ICSI

Hi everyone,

I had icsi about 6 weeks ago, I've had two periods since then. My first period was normal with normal timings and everything. This period just gone (so 2nd period since icsi cycle) was a few days earlier than expected, was a little lighter than normal and lasted a day longer than normal. According to my clinic it's normal for periods to be a bit different for a little while after the treatment.

My problem is, that I take an ovulation test everyday after my period stops for about 12 days (12 days after my period is the latest I've ever got a positive ovulation test) and I didn't get a positive ovulation test last month, and I haven't so far got a positive ovulation test this month either. I usually get ovulation pain around ovulation time. And sore boobs about 5 days after a positive ovulation test. And haven't had either of those since my icsi cycle. I'm really worried that I'm not ovulating.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you x

My periods went a bit wonky after treatment, they were a few days earlier then before, heavier on day 1 or 2 and were shorter so went from 5 days to 3

I ended up ditching the ovulation kits in the end, like you every now and then I wouldn’t get a high or peak (that’s if your using the clear blue ones) - I didn’t think it wasn’t because I wasn’t ovulating I just thought there can’t be enough of the hormone to detect it

Also I looked at we’d been trying for a few years and hadn’t got pregnant thus far, and now that we were in the IVF system I didn’t see the point in using them as the eggs are artificially harvested

I wouldn’t worry too much, I’m sure your body will sort itself out

Hi sparkle. I would wait one more cycle, as it can take up to 3 cycles for menstruation to return to what is normal for you after a treatment cycle. If still worried, then speak with your GP/clinic who might organise a blood test for you to check your hormones out. Hope4 all soon serttles again. Diane
