Ovulation & Period after canceled FET

Hi lovely ladies,

I was wondering if one of you could help me. I had my medicated FET cancelled on Tuesday 😔 due to my lining not thickening up and having possible scar tissue. I need to have a hysteroscopy to check things.

My question is, for those who have also had cancelled FETs in the past, did your cycle resume as normal or did the meds throw things out? I was on progynova 2mg x3 a day for 7 days then increased to 4 a day from days 7-12 which was when it was canceled.

I am due to ovulate next week and was wondering if this would still be the case and in turn would my period be late or early?

Hi Lavender96, how are you doing?

I had an appointment at my clinic today as I had questions! I asked about ovulating and period and she said I wouldn’t ovulate until next month now because the drugs have mucked around with it.

I’m spotting at the moment and she said that’s normal and what they call a withdrawal bleed.

She also said following the hysteroscopy I can do my FET and they would start me on 4 progynova a day instead of 3 to help lining.

Thanks for this CLD, it’s very helpful!! My clinic haven’t been the most helpful 😔 I asked for a follow up appointment but was basically told there was no point until I’d had my hysteroscopy!! I’ve started spotting as well this week. Was a little concerned that it was really light, but I suppose that would be the case as my lining was thin.

They did say I could do my FET the first new cycle following hysteroscopy (providing all is ok), but I haven’t discussed a change to my meds (which is why I wanted an appointment now) so will have to go in anyway before I can start. I’m going to ring them again, feel like I’m being really pushy, but I want to be in a position to start straight away if I can!! I was on 6 Progynova a day and patches so not sure what else they can add in.

I’m feeling a little better about it all now. Come round to the idea that I can enjoy Xmas and have a drink as as likely won’t be doing another FET till Feb now. And I want everything to be perfect for my frostie so glad they are doing everything to check all is ok.

That’s disappointing they haven’t been very helpful to you. Did you ring again? I know what you mean about feeling pushy but you do have a right for answers.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. I’m with you there, I think this is the best decision out of it not working or worse still a MC. So just trying to relax a bit and enjoy life a little!

I have an appointment at a private hospital tomorrow to discuss hysteroscopy so will update you if you like - in case it can help you in any way.

I’ve been getting very mixed messages, seems to be dependant on who I speak to!! I’ve now been told I may have to wait till March for a hysteroscopy, but that I’ve only been referred as a precaution and I can even request treatment in the meantime if we want to, it’s very confusing! I’ve got an appointment to go in now and sit down with a consultant but not till January xxx

Sorry for late reply, been manic getting sorted for Xmas! I had my appointment with the gynaecologist and she wants to hold off me having a hysteroscopy and monitor me when I have my next period - going by my cycle it should be this week but I’m not sure if it would have changed dates now as I had a bleed after I stopped meds - do you know if that would be the case?

She basically said as my period is finishing she wants to do an internal scan to see what’s going on naturally. She also thinks this period may remove the fluid 🤞 At the moment she is also suggesting a natural FET next time even though my lining wasn’t thick enough as she thinks I may not get on with the meds. It was such a helpful appointment and very different seeing a gynaecologist who has a better understanding.

Sorry to hear your FET was cancelled. You must be so disappointed! Have you tried acupuncture to help thicken your lining? I haven't had similar experience about this but hope you can get your FET very soon. Best of luck! X

Thank you. Yes I am. I really wasn’t expecting it. I had a scan and it was 5.8mm, the triple layer was there, blood flow was good and ovaries quiet so they booked me for transfer but said they wanted a second opinion & that’s when they noticed scar tissue also.

It’s for the best but doesn’t make it any easier 😔

Hi Jazmin, that’s so thoughtful, thank you.

I saw a gynecologist who wanted me to have a period so she could scan me after to see how things are naturally because of the Fluid. It was still there so I’m having a hysteroscopy on 27th and I’m hoping all being well I’ll be able to go ahead with FET in February 🤞

She has recommended a natural one and I saw this past month as a test run and tried some new things & my lining got to 7mm on day 10 so I’m really hopeful!

Thanks lovely. Mine was 5.8mm and they were ok to transfer as I had the triple line but then they saw the fluid and cancelled it in case there was an underlying issue there.

Recently my lining got to 7mm without meds so after I’ve had my hysteroscopy I’ll be looking at a natural transfer.

Exactly so fingers crossed 🤞 my clinic have said to contact them on the first day of my period which should be the week of the 27th also so that way things will be moving forward if my results come back ok.

I had my FET in Feb and it failed unfortunately 😢 which I found really tough to deal with but I am having another tomorrow ☺️so hoping 🙏🏼 this is my time xx

Aw love, I’m so sorry for you. Some things or times do hit you harder and it almost seems unthinkable to go on.

Thank you. It was top grade so made me worry but more I read the more I see grades aren’t everything as there are such positive stories with ‘lesser’ grades.

Oh for sure agree about grades. Honestly mine didn’t even get an official grading just the most promising looking ones, and of which looked most viable.

Ohhh I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you and your little Embribaby 🥰🥰 so hope this little one is a success.

Yes I bet it seems like a lifetime of living in ivf. It’s so all consuming and overwhelming isn’t it. Just remember how strong you are and how wanted your baby is and I know you’ll get there.

Brilliant. I know it must be so hard being so uncertain. Yes defo I honestly had no clue on grading they were just good and very good etc I think the grading gives somewhat of a false impression honestly I do.

Wishing you and your little family all the luck and no success in the world. Keep well. Chill out , relax . Honestly advice I would give just be kind to yourself, whatever you feel like doing or not doing just do it.

The less pressure stress anxiety and expectations I put on myself seemed to work the second cycle. I know so much easier said than done but seriously just go with your body.

Turns out, I didn’t know what grade my embie was in the end as they thawed a day 3 I had and it was only classed as very early blastocyst by time of transfer so hoping it’s developing in its new home 🥰

Thanks for the tips! I had McDs & pineapple too as you just never know! I recall your hubby stocking up on 🍍🍍so 🤞

I’m working from home now for a while so will take it easy and go for some little walks.
