Confirmed - the bad news we were expecting

I started bleeding 16dp5dt and had been having quite bad period-like cramps but as you do, we clung on to anything we could think of (or find on google that worked in our favour), desperate for an explanation and for everything to be fine. I had my second blood test today which confirms my hcg is decreasing and it’s over. So we are taking the positives from this try (3 in the freezer and this was the first time getting pregnant so at least we know I can get that far at least) and thinking about our next attempt. I know I will have to wait for a period and then the next one will be when I start meds again. My question is...can we try naturally between those two periods? They were unable to do my embryo transfer the first time due to a membrane over my cervix and this was sorted in surgery so hoping it’ll be easier for us to conceive naturally in future 🤞🏼

My first one failed too. I read somewhere that going through three transfers really increases the odds of it working. My first scan went well. Implantation was in the right place, so one worry settled. Now I wait two more weeks for a second scan. So I’m sure I will stress everyday waiting for those results lol. Can you do your next transfer right away? My clinic has months they take off so I had to wait for my period, then another month, then another cycle of meds to get my period because I am so irregular

Ah that’s great I hope it’s all plain sailing for you now! I think I’ll have to wait for a period then we’ll try and conceive naturally and if that doesn’t work I’ll start taking meds on the first day of my next period. I’ve not had a chat with the clinic about that yet though so not sure if it will actually pan out that way x

I'm so sorry to hear this. Biggest hugs! My first fresh transfer resulted in a chemical pregnancy. TBH, I was so freaking excited that I had gotten pregnant at all because it meant that my odds of eventually conceiving and carrying my pregnancy went way up according to my clinic. So do take heart during this awful time, you are right that there are some tiny positives from a really heartbreaking situation. I would certainly try naturally in between transfers! We fell pregnant naturally while waiting to start my second EC. So much baby dust and comfort to you! Xx

Ah thanks, your reply has made me feel much better and more optimistic especially as you mention the odds of eventually going full term to a live birth go way up. That’s good to know. So pleased to hear trying naturally worked for you xx
