Keep your feet warm after your transfer. Warm feet=warm uterus. Eat warm foods...soups, stews, etc. I was also going to suggest McDonald’s fries but saw you had that one already.
Egg retrievals weren’t painful, I only had cramps for about an hour after having them done each time. I am not sure about all the cases, but I had anesthesia each time at biotexcom.
This is probably pretty obvious, but thought I'd mention it anyway. If you typically wear contact lenses, don't forget your glasses. My anesthesiologist said that the anesthesia significantly dries the eyes out so it's best to not be wearing contacts even though you're only under for 15 minutes or so. (She does let you keep them in if you normally sleep in them.)
I went through a few IVF cycles but it all went by pretty quickly and honestly wasn't as stressful as I thought it would be. I'm terrified of needles so that was the worst part but numbing with ice definetly helped.
Drink raspberry leaf tea, pomegranate juice. I still drank a bit of coffee and it was fine.
Retrieval: No big deal, they put you under and it's a fast procedure. Just take it easy afterward.
Implementation: McDonald's fries come after this step I think, that's what I did at least. Then just take it easy and treat your body like it's already pregnant for the dreaded two-week wait. Don't do a home test too early, you'll drive yourself nuts!
Oh gosh that’s a crazy list & a bit scary to be honest. I didn’t follow any advice other than that of the professionals at the clinic, which was take it easy, don’t do anything that’ll make you tired, drink plenty of water, take pregnacare multivitamin and vitamin D spray daily, eat a balanced diet. And I got a positive & 12 weeks pregnant. So keep your mind calm, to be honest I think it enough having to worry about taking all the meds on time never mind adding more to the list. But of course do whatever work for you and your mind. For me that was keeping it as simple as possible! Best of luck Xx
Hey, I totally agree with Jengi - whilst some things on your list are helpful please please don't get too focused on ensuring you do them all and think that if you don't it'll not work. The way I think about things is that if things were guaranteed to make it work the clinics would include it in the protocol... For example I had MacDonalds fries after 3 of my 4 transfers and only 1 has worked so far (we find out about the latest one this week) I think some of those things are helpful as so much of it is out of our control and down to nature / luck by doing those things we feel like we're helping... Make sure you get enough rest, IVF is exhausting physically and emotionally so listen to your body and do what it's telling you. Also try not to plan too far ahead as things can change really quickly. Wishing you LOTS of luck xx
I am with the others I think giving yourself such a long list of do's and donts could add stress. The only important thing which is what your health care provider will tell you is folic acid and vitamin d. Obviously do or take anything that you want to do but just don't get yourself worked up to the point that you think it will fail if you didnt drink a certain thing one day. I would say easier said than done but relaxing is the best thing. I went away for a few days the week before egg collection, ate a lot of unhealthy (but tasty) foods and got plenty of fresh air but did none of the other stuff. You could ask 50 women and get 50 different regimes. Good luck for it all x
Wow that is a long list!! If you manage all that you are doing well. I didn’t really follow any of those mostly ‘old wives tales’. didn’t have the mcdonald fries, didn’t wear socks, ate chocolate and mostly any foods I enjoy. Balance diet id say. I did try to reduce stress and relaxed couple of days after collection and transfer and did take prenatal vitamins.
