Medicated FET- can I trust my clinic

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help.

I'm doing a medicated FET cycle as my cycles have been very irregular this past year (from my first fresh IVF cycle onwards). I'm worried I have a hormonal imbalance and possibly endometriosis. This is my first medicated cycle and as I had to be in quarantine at the start I just had some vague instructions sent to me. I have been taking Burserelin from last week Tuesday and my period started Wednesday evening (the following week) so I'm officially on day 2.

I called to say my period had started and was told I wouldn't have a baseline scan due to COVID which I could understand. I was told that they would let me know when I could start my oestrogen but I shouldn't expect a call until after the weekend. Then I got a call this morning to say to start my oestrogen today.

The clinic and I have a long history 🙄 and my trust in them isn't great so I'm worried they made a mistake in the dates. My understanding was that you're on Burserelin for quite a while to make sure the lining is thin before starting with oestrogen. Are there other people who start with oestrogen on day 2 when doing an FET?

Just so worried it may go wrong again and I waste another precious blastocyst 😢

Thanks and ❤️

Hi IvfStruggler. You have definitely stared on the correct day, so that's good. Try not to worry about the lack of scan, as the drugs you are on should regulate everything for you. Just follow instructions, and I wish you all the best. Diane

I hope you don't mind me asking another question: What is supposed to happen with your period when you start the oestrogen? Mine stopped on the second day of taking my pills but then the following day it started again. It's only very light (mainly spotting) but I'm confused - should I not start building my lining? I would be so grateful for any info or experiences.

If your period has come, that's the sure sign that down-regulation has happened correctly. Sorry it's sooo hard... xx

Thank you for replying. I thought that because I started the Burserelin after ovulation (day 19) it had nothing to do with your period for that month but your ovulation for the next. The whole thing confuses me so thanks for the info. The only information my clinic sent me said that once you stop bleeding you have the scan to see when to start the oestrogen- now I have started when everything is still in full flow (sorry TMI).

Yep I started on estrogen around cd2/3 when I did a FET after having been on buserelin for 2 weeks and having had a bleed. I then had a scan around cd12/13 to check my lining and then started taking progesterone with transfer 5 days later. Sounds like you’re on track and all the best for your transfer!

I'm happy to hear other people had a similar time line. Feeling much more reassured and now I'm starting to be happy (as well terrified) it's all happening much sooner as I thought! Thanks xxx

Hi IvfStruggler/ All seems to be happening as it should, so fingers crossed they will be satisfied with your scan when you have it. Hope the rest of the cycle goes as it should. Diane
