Hi, I just wondered if anyone has had a medicated FET before and how did it go? I’m a little worried about potential risks with the medicated, so looking for any success stories or info on people’s experiences with it?
Medicated FET : Hi, I just wondered if... - Fertility Network UK
Medicated FET
Hi Singershope, I had only medicated FET - I would be more stressed if I would have to do the natural FET my body has a history of letting me down, with not producing enough hormones etc so it is reassuring for me that I am getting extra hormones. My 1st medicated FET resulted in my now 2yo son, I am now on my 5th medicated FET and during this one it turned out that I need additional progesterone on top of what I am taking because it is too low and it is possible that last 3 FETs ended as they did because I could have too low progesterone like I have now. Fingers crossed for your success 🤞
Thanks so much. This is really useful to read. I currently have only one 5AA embryo on ice and the reason for not doing a fresh cycle was due to my lining being a bit under the optimal.
I was worried about the estrogen as I have a genetic predisposition for developing blood clots. I was also worried about the risks of the fact I haven’t actually ovulated. That’s so great to hear you have your son and I’m so pleased to know that it worked well for you. Do you mind if o can ask if you had a natural delivery or was it C section?
Thanks so much. Really appreciate it.
If you are concerned about blood cloth you can always ask your clinic about countermeasures like blood thinners etc. My son was from 5Ab embryo 😀 It was a natural birth - so easy and uncomplicated I also developed gestational diabetes by the end of the pregnancy
That’s amazing that it was uncomplicated birth. This is all very re assuring. I will be put on clexane which are blood thinners, I was more worried about the lack of relaxin hormone in medicated FETs due to no ovulation but it seems so many ladies have great results and not too many issues on the medicated, so that’s really putting my mind at rest.
Thanks again for replying. Great to hear they got your 5th FET sorted and best of luck with it x
hello Singershope,
My medicated FET resulted in my wonderful son. I was on oestrogens patches + progesterone pessaries + progesterone in oil injections. I didn’t have any particular side effects apart from the pain that the PIO injections cause. If you have more questions / there’s anything you want to discuss in more detail, feel free to drop me a message!
And good luck!!!! 😘😘😘
Thankyou so much, I really appreciate the advice. That’s fantastic about your son, so pleased for you!
I only have one embryo on ice which is a 5AA but my lining was slightly sub optimal so has to freeze it.
I have a genetic predisposition for developing blood clots so have been very worried about the risks of the medicated version. I’m also a little worried about the slightly more increased risk of needing a C section (only because of my condition).
Thanks so much for the advice. If it’s ok to ask, did you have a natural birth or C section. Either way, it’s wonderful that you had your son!!
Hi. I see you are getting replies, so that’s good. Hopeall goes well. Diane
My first FET was medicated and the result is now 2 years old 😀 I did have another medicated FET trying for a sibling and that was a BFN so no guarantee, but my three fresh transfers were all losses sadly so I would always do frozen now if I did another transfer.
I had medicated FET , and I have my girl at 2 years old now. My 2nd medicated failed. i was told while on medicated you are not supposed to ovulate , all the best!
Hi, I am currently having medicated transfer abroad. I always had natural in Uk cause of the high platelets. I have essential thrombocytemea. I am also worried as I am getting quite a lot of numbness in my hands and feet( estradiol can cause higher platelets). I also had bleeding today 17 dc before the transfer. I will have heparin injections but starting after the transfer. I also am taking aspirin which I was told by my hematologist in UK to omit 7 days prior to transfer( as my previous miscarriage was cause of hematoma) . Loads of worries and stress.
Oh sorry to hear that. I am on clexane at the mo (blood thinners) as I have hereditary thrombophillia. I’ve never had a blood clot but I’m at a higher risk, genetically of developing one due to being homozygous for the prothrombin gene mutation! Just adds more worries to the mix, doesn’t it. I really wish you all the best with this one. I hope they’re monitoring you closely. X
I’ve did 6 natural transfers because I still ovulate and hormone levels always were good
Last transfer was medicated as I thought I would try something different
Only one that has worked for me so far 🙌 maybe my body just needed that extra support.
I’ve read other stories where it’s the other way around though
Best of luck 🤞
