Periods are lighter after ivf cycles so should I do natural FET instead of medicated ?

Hi

I'm due to have a FET soon. My clinic says there's no difference in success between medicated and natural fets. I've had a medicated (negative result) due to irregular cycles. But my cycle is more regular now. I'm thinking about trying a more natural cycle - main reason I was thinking of this is because my period immediately after an ivf cycle is always much lighter than usual (even though my linings have measured fine and I've taken Viagra and oestrogen patches and had lubion and cyclogest) which makes me wonder if a more natural cycle would produce a better lining. But maybe I'm over thinking things as usual ?

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this ? That is lighter bleeds after ivf. Just struggling to know whether to start a natural FET or just go with the slightly easier option of medicated

Thanks for reading

I would have thought that a natural FET is easier. Less medication and less stress on the body. The process works around your own cycle and is an option so long as you have regular cycles and can determine your LH surge.

I had a natural FET which consisted of detecting my LH surge during ovulation and 5 days later my embryo was transferred. With a medicated cycle your body is manipulated into an unnatural state which might make it less receptive to a transfer. At least I believe that this was the impact on my body. However there are successes and failures with both.

I’ve not experienced a lighter period after transfer so no advice there but wishing you the best of luck...x

Thank you. Im struggling with knowing which is best to do. Plus I've had a lot of immunes treatment and am also wondering if that might be wasted if I go for a natural cycle and it gets cancelled. So difficult to know what to do x

Hey,

Will you have a period between now and your FET? Just wondered if you could check your ovulation - unless you do already and that might help you work things out for a natural FET?

I did this last month as my previous FET was medicated and was cancelled due to thin lining and fluid 🙄

When I did this test run (with a few natural remedies thrown in) 😉my lining was looking fine and has really helped prepare me for my FET & confirmed my decision to go natural - hopefully soon 🤞

Good luck xxx

Thanks much

I've not tried tracking my ovulation recently so will give that a go - good idea. What are the best ovulation sticks to use? The ones I had before I found quite difficult to use as you had to detect a strong line and sometimes the lines were weak

Thanks x

I have used the clear blue advanced digital ones. They are quite pricey but I saw a deal on amazon where it was a pack of 20 sticks for the same price as 10 so hopefully that’s still on! Xx
