How long to wait after failed fresh embryo transfer before a FET ?

Hello,

I was wondering please if anyone could share with me, your experiences after a failed fresh embryo transfer followed by a FET. Today was day 14 following our 5 day blastocyst transfer and we received a negative result 😓 This is our 8th treatment (6 failed IUIs, 2 IVFs). I fell pregnant on our first IVF (1 fresh AA embryo) but unfortunately had a cervical ectopic pregnancy. Round two IVF and we had two fresh embryos (AA & ungraded slightly behind) put in, but sadly neither stuck. I have very low AMH so only ever get a few eggs. Luckily we have two frozen embryos, a AB graded one which is from our first cycle and a CC from this cycle (which our clinic advised us not to freeze, but we requested).

My period hasn’t yet arrived, and will leave it a full cycle before considering a single FET (with the AB embryo) but wondered if it’s best to wait longer on my body? I worry it may not have worked this time as there was a struggle to get my eggs out (I have a high right ovary, it’s sits on my uterus) and wondered if this could have damaged my lining in anyway.

Also has anyone transferred one FET CC and had a success story?

Sorry your cycle ended in bad news

My first cycle ended in a BFN - once I got my period when I stopped the progesterone I just had to wait for my next period to do an FET

BUT.....I did short protocol mild IVF so no down reg and meant my periods came back almost immediately whereas I’ve heard it can be longer if you do long protocol. Also I was doing a non medicated natural FET so just had to track my ovulation after my next period - total time from BFN to next transfer was 6 weeks which is pretty much the quickest turnaround you can get x

I too have just done a short protocol, but I guess I was on normal meds (took 300IU Fostimon & Menopur mix). At the moment as long as I feel ready I’m anticipating a similar turn around to you.

I would also like to do a natural FET as have a regular cycle and once did a unmedicated IUI cycle which gave me similar results to stimulated, in terms of number of follicles. So keen to try natural if my clinic agrees. May I ask how your FET went?

I got a BFN from fresh transfer at the end of September and started my FET medication around mid-November. I hope your next transfer is succesful for you xx

Hi Amelia, we only had one embryo make it to blastocyst from our FET and was told it was CC so didn’t hold out much hope. I’m 20 weeks pregnant now, so it can happen! They say not to focus too much on the grading anyway. Good Luck x

That’s great news! Congratulations to you. Our clinic we’re against us freezing our CC but we’ve kept it, as we lost 3 CC in our first IVF as we’re told we couldn’t keep them. We then learnt it was our decision overall (a little too late). Not too worry, we have two frozen now and hopefully one of those gives us our baby. So nice to hear that yours is making your baby, gives me hope. And I agree, it’s not all about the grading.
