FET straight after Fresh BFN?

Hi ladies,

We had our follow up consultation after our failed fresh cycle only to be told that we have 2 low / average grade eggs frozen!! The embryologist that called after transfer said we had no eggs to freeze! But it’s good news no doubt that we do, I was told she was talking about the rest of the eggs (not the 2 that were frozen) but her conversation was very misleading and I posted a rant on here about it!

Our consultant is keen for us to crack on with FET this month back to back from failed fresh. I’m day 7 of cycle so would transfer very soon. He said there is no negatives from going so soon after - what do you ladies think? Should I wait a month or just go for it? Really don’t want to scarper any chances as it will be a double transfer 3cc embies that i left and a fresh cycle after Christmas it it fails. He keen due to my age 43 (soon to be 44) to go ahead... any advice please? I asked if my body was ready and he said the half life of the drugs are already out the system from fresh cycle Xx

I mean there is no reason to wait really other than piece of mind you’ve had a little break inbetween cycles for your own mental health I would do whatever feels right waiting one month isn’t gonna make your age any more of a factor than it is now.

Thanks for replying treezuk, I think I just want to go ahead with it but just wanted feedback from other ladies that have done the same thing & if it effected their outcomes?

I think I’d rather let my body rest before a fresh cycle and all the drugs again. It feels like we’re getting another chance, hopefully it works! He said we’re still in with a good chance with own eggs for now... who knows! 🤷‍♀️ xx

I did it with a months break and it still didn’t work so in hindsight I dunno if it made a difference or not - but I did get pregnant eventually but those transfers were a year apart that time

Hey, sorry to hear about your failed cycle it's so tough. The hard thing about this journey is that there is no way of knowing what will happen with the next cycle. We had a failed fresh transfer in August and went on to do a FET in the cycle after the withdrawal bleed and had a BFP. I'm 44 in March so was keen to crack on as well and after 3 cancelled FETs and Covid I didn't want any further delays. I did a natural FET which was SO much easier on my body and felt like I was giving it a break! Other than a trigger shot I didn't have any medication until after transfer. There is no way of knowing what will happen so I would go with your gut feeling xx

Hi Libsie3103,

Thanks for the reply 🌺 I think I’m going to just go for it this month... partly worried that if there’s a lockdown it will delay things and partly thinking I can rest over Christmas if I need a fresh cycle. Did they increase / change your progesterone with the FET? My consultant said he might take me off Lubion for frozen as my progesterone was quite high in fresh cycle (was using cyclogest and lubion) and I feel kind of nervous about that as my last FET ended in mc with just cyclogest xx

I share your concerns and would probably do the same! They increased my progesterone - I was on 200mg 3 times a day on my fresh and now I'm on 400mg twice a day plus Lubion. I did get pregnant after my fresh cycle last year and was on the same dose of progesterone but that ended in a MMC. Really hope it all goes well for you Hun xx

I’ve no experience of doing transfer back to back but if it were me I’d be tempted to just go with the consultants advice. Best of luck! Xx

Thank you Jengi, I think we will go for it, feel very nervous about it all and kind of feels like a magic chance, as we thought we had no eggs! Just want to get all the progesterone right... but nervous about it being reduced, rather than increased! Xx

Hi BettyBe, I had 2 FETs in August then September, both failed. I don't think that was anything to do with the fact they were back to back and physically I felt fine. The only thing I would caution would be that emotionally it was really hard. After the first one failed I put ALL the pressure on the next one working, and when it didn't I really struggled. I have now had a month between that last fail and starting new treatment, and I feel 100% stronger and ready to go. Of course I completely understand the timing thing which is why we went for it. I would just say that a bit of a break can reset your head and I found that helpful. Good luck whatever you decide! xxx

Hi BettyBe!! I’m doing back to back as well - I just had a negative medicated cycle, withdrew medicine and starting again right away. My consultant and nurses said it’s fine. Good luck!!!!!!!

I have had 3 transfers (all failed) so far and I just go for it the next earliest possible time, though due to timings of bleeds and a cancelled cycle it hasn’t meant all back to back. For me I just want to keep going till I get the result I’m so desperately going for, but everyone is different, so if your consultant is happy I’d say go for it! Good luck! X
