FET after failed fresh transfer

Hello everyone,

My first fresh embryo transfer failed (day 10 BFN today). Exactly a year ago from my missed miscarriage last year (natural unmed ivf) I was prepared for this as I started testing 3 days ago.

What I wanted to ask is what are the guidelines for FET - would I be allowed to have one right away or is it recommended to wait? I have 4 more frozen embryos but they were only frozen this month as this was my first full ivf cycle.

thank you in advance for any answers

ps I have a consultation booked with my consultant next week, but impatient for information 🙂

Sorry to hear about your bfn. I was allowed to start the meds for my fet as soon as my period came back.

I’m sure others will say similar but I have been much better with frozen transfers than fresh and the process of frozen transfers is loads easier and less stressful. X

im sorry about your BFN, I think it depends on your clinic and their FET protocols tbh, mine make you wait until your next period and then it’s down reg so there’s another bleed after that so FET is 3 months after fresh but some clinics do next cycle and no down reg so probs one for your consultation or if you can find a Facebook group for your specific clinic there might be info on there? Xx

hi Tally, sorry to hear this. My doctor advised me to wait 2 months because of all the meds, allowing your body to recover from it all. She also said for most couples (depending on your circumstances) you’re extremely fertile the next couple of months. Wishing you all the best xx

I had a FET immediately after a chemical from a fresh transfer and that was successful. It was so much easier and gentler than a fresh transfer. However my NHS clinic that I was with previously said they want at least one period in between and they have to use the pill to time your period to their scheduling so it would have been min. 3mnths. So think depends on your clinic, and also how you've recovered.

thank you for your reply! Thinking I want to go for it right away too but so scared of losing another embryo
