Hey guys well after the long haul. Of fighting NHS for 4 years to get any help in January I start dmy first round of ivf icsi. Resulting in 2 strong embryos one was transfered and one frozen. Sadly fresh one didn't work 😩 and then told to have break and get started march. I was all set for natural cycle all was going perfect. Body doing as it should hormones and womb lining was textbook perfect according to nurses and was told Monday set to have transfer for saturuday.to have a phone call Tuesday to say it was cancelled because of covid. Heart broken wasn't even the right words for it. Which I know we all have had lots of heartbreak anyway I won't detail you all too much but I hvant been in a good place at all during this which I presume again we all in same boat. But I finally got phone call from my clinic to say they can start treating again so I have a phone call nurse appt on Tuesday to discuss it all and to give dates for expected period to book place to get my frostie. Yeah I was completely overwhelmed until they told me because of virus they don't want u in clinic as oftern OK that's fair enough. So they are going to put me on meds? They saying il b having HRT FET using estrogen tablets and progesterone pessaries? I know these are normally used when a woman isn't ovulating or womb lining not growing. But mine all is. I'm now worrying that they will b making my body do too much and I'm scared it's going to ruin my chances. Is this true or am I being too paranoid? My hubby says hopsital knows what they doing and I'm sure they do. But surely if my body doesn't need pills etc then if I take them it's liable to go overload isn't it? They assured me it's not too harsh of treatment and it's basically being done so they have control of my ovulation so they can time it which means less hospital visits for scans etc. What do you guys think?, am I being paranoid? Xx good luck to all of you xx

Hiya, sorry to hear 1st cycle didnt work. They put most on medicated FETs too at our clinic, myself included, who has no ovulation/lining issues. Apparently its standard so they have more control.

When we did the FET process you outline above we got a BFP (though it ended in mmc, this was prob due to embryo). We did also take lubion injections too though due to low progesterone.

Good luck xx im sure they have your best interests at heart.

Hi Judda,

Sorry things aren’t going as planned after your delayed treatment.

Just wanted to give you some reassurance. I ovulate normally and my lining is always spot on but I chose to have a medicated FET, I was given the option of a natural or medicated using HRT. There is no difference in success rates between medicated and natural, it’s just a personal preference. For me, I wanted the timing to be more controlled hence why I opted for medicated but the drugs they use are light and nothing like having a fresh cycle.

My frozen transfer was successful so please don’t worry that this will ruin your chances, it won’t! Best of luck for your treatment xx

Hi Judda, I’m the exact same. Got the green light to restart my FET last week on next period. I was having a natural cycle in March which was cancelled a few days before transfer due to covid 19. I had a medicated FET in early January which resulted in an early miscarriage in Feb and I just wanted to give my body a break. I have no lining or cycle issues and the clinic said literally the only reason I was previously on a medicated cycle was so that they can time when the transfer takes place for their own staffing levels. But they were allowing me to do the natural one in March as I had asked for it. They’ve now said I can’t do a natural one everyone’s needs to be constructed for timing due to their limited capacity. My clinic it’s completely constructed for medicated FET. They give prostrap down reg injection (which basically brings on menopause) then after next period you begin the estrogen and prostogen (basically because the prostrap injection stops me producing these myself). I’m a little sad I can’t do the natural one as not only is it easier hormonally this way means that with the down reg etc I won’t even get to transfer until mid August! I am extremely grateful though to be starting treatment at all as I know there are MANY women still waiting for a call from their clinics so I’m just counting my blessings. Ps success rates are the exact same for medicated or natural FET if no relevant fertility issues I looked into it all before choosing the natural one in March so I wouldn’t worry about that part xx

It's really common to have a medicated FET....in fact way more common than a natural transfer. The clinics tend to use this method more often as they have better control over your body and can plan for your transfer. Try not to worry, they have lots of experience with this and like I said it how most clinics work so it wont euin5your chances.xx

I’m in the US and most clinics won’t do natural FETs anyway. I’ve done four, all medicated, and it isn’t bad. You do a baseline ultrasound and bloodwork when you start, then a lining check (which I’m sure will be fine if it is naturally; mine always is), and then the transfer. Then I always had a positive pregnancy test 4dp5dt. It’s still stressful, and they make you do progesterone injections instead of suppositories since ovulation is completely suppressed, but it works.

Hi there! I had my FET in Boston in Feb. i only had and will only ever have one frozen, tested embryo. I was given the option between natural and medicated cycle. Let me tell you I looked the doctor in the eye and said ‘I have one shot. What is my best bet’ and she said ‘medicated’. I chose progesterone shots and had to actually insert the estrogen pill because my body wouldn’t absorb it orally. I know all of this is such a huge leap of faith. Literally all we can do is follow the advice of doctors and ask questions- it’s so difficult, painful, stressful. I will share that I had one shot, one FET only and I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. Also just want to add that a nurse at my FET said that studies on FET were proving to have amazing results and more successful pregnancies than every before. Stay strong and wishing you a successful FET. 💕

Hi, I’m in Scotland, I haven’t been offered a non medicated FET before or after Covid. I have NO issues with my ovulation or womb so please don’t think it’s a bad thing, this way they are very much in control and have a better idea at what stage you will be at. Clinics do things differently neither one is right or wrong. Your clinic will not do anything to “ruin” your chances! Xx

Thank you for replying. I think I was over whelming myself worrying about meds thinking it was going to upset my system and cause problems as I'm not very clued up with it all. But listening to everyone on here has really helped me understand and I feel a lot happier and calmer now to get started xx hope. Your well x thank you xx
