Hi everyone, unfortunately I've just come out of hospital been in since Thursday. After they did my hysteroscopy I felt really ill and got a really bad infection. I literally forced myself to go into hospital as I didnt want to catch covid19 and I felt really ill to drive but I went and they did a scan and found I had an abscess on my ovary. Apparently the Dr who did my procedure was unaware I had endometriosis which make me higher risk to infection. He really rushed it as he was running 45 mins late ( as i explained on my last post 5 days ago) I'd never seen him before and now this has happened. It's very unlikely to get an infection after a hysteroscopy so I'm very unlucky. Glad I went in when I did as if it got any bigger they would of had to remove my ovary. They said it shouldn't effect my eggs but are not 100% sure yet. I'm on 3 different types of antibiotics and have a scan tomorrow to see if there is any difference. The consultant has said she will be the only one looking after me from now on but I am so worried this will affect my chances. They havent said it's their fault and I doubt they will, but we both know it is. I was so healthy before this, with the best supplements and diet. I was doing literally everything in my power to make sure my eggs and lining were in the best condition before our next cycle. I wasnt even wearing perfume or nail varnish as I heard it's not good for your eggs they said it will hold up my next cycle but as long as I get better that's not so bad. The other ovary is ok (they think), but has a big cyst on it from endo. Absolutely gutted this is happening 😔
Hysteroscopy gone wrong :(: Hi everyone... - Fertility Network UK
Hysteroscopy gone wrong :(
Oh lovely I'm so sorry! If you feel the hospital should've done more and are at fault have you thought about making a complaint? I hope you start to feel better soon and that your hard work to improve your egg quality doesn't go to waste x
Oh that’s awful, I’m so sorry.
Take things very easy and focus on getting better. I hope you’re scan goes well tomorrow and that it doesn’t hold things up too much xx
Oh no! How awful. I ended up with an infection after my hysteroscopy too, although it was a blood infection so was different.
Sounds like youve been working really hard to prep do hopefully you're body will be in good healing condition.
I would say don't rush into starting your next cycle until youre totally healed and back to normal.
Hope you're feeling better soon xx
Awww Littlepeax, you poor thing! I'm so sorry to hear you've been so poorly, what a nightmare.😕 hoping the infections clears up soon and you're back on the road to recovery very soon. Rest up and be kind to yourself. Hugs.xxx
Oh you poor poor thing, so sorry to hear this! Really hope you are feeling better soon xxx
Oh no I am so so sorry to read this, you poor thing. got everything crossed the drugs are working and the scan goes well, think positive - I am sure all of your hard work is still having a positive impact on your chances of success and I really hope this is just a minor blip and won't have any long term implications. Huge hugs xx
Oh I’m so sorry this has happened littlepeax. Really hope the infection clears up soon and your scan goes well. Get plenty of rest and focus on getting better. I hope you’re feeling better soon xx
Oh bless you, what a bloody nightmare! So sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time lovely. Keeping everything crossed the drugs are working and you make a quick recovery so you can get on with your cycle. Big hugs xxxx
Oh no lovely. I’m so sorry to read this. I’ll keep everything crossed you can get on with your cycle as soon as possible.
It definitely does sound like they’ve been a bit negligent though - the Dr was rushing because he was late and how could he not know you have endometriosis? It would be in your notes! And because of this he didn’t take the appropriate due care & attention he should have. It’s shocking! I would definitely complain to the GMC (General Medical Council). They have to look into every formal complaint and you might get further than if you just complain to your hospital. My chaps dads a doctor, if you’d like me to see what your best course of action is PM me and I’ll ask him.
Sending you a big hug. Xxx
So sorry to read this littlepeax. There’s nothing more frustrating than when you do your best and everything that’s within your power and control and then you’re let down by other people to whom it doesn’t matter as much. Hopefully all your efforts to get yourself in the best health means that you recover quickly and are in the best shape to go forward with your collection and transfer...x
So sorry Littlepea 😔 so pleased you took yourself to hospital and hopefully now on the road to recovery.
I hope your scan goes well and you’re better soon. Take care xxx
If it was in outpatient infection is about 1% and as a high as 3% at birmingham women's hospital so infections are not uncommon
If it seems low at that clinic defiantly complane as there defiantly not cleaning properly including the scope
