Hysteroscopy advice

Hi, I just wondered if anyone has had a hysteroscopy to investigate failed implantation with no known cause? I had a 4d scan before my last cycle and everything looked normal. I’ve been booked for a hysteroscopy so thought I’d go for it. But obviously it had a small risk of infection so just wanted any views from anyone that’s had one? Did it show anything up that you didn’t expect? Maybe something that helped with IVF? Thank you xx 😚

I had a hysteroscopy procedure before starting my IVF treatment as they found fluid in my uterus during a scan at the clinic. I had the procedure which was pretty straight forward and they found no reason for concern, or any signs of the fluid. Its definitely worth having, I never turned down a procedure in case it showed up a reason for my infertility. I had a small bit of bleeding afterwards but no infection etc I opted for a local anaesthesia and didn't feel to much pain. Wishing you all the best xxx

Thank you. I have been having everything I can as well, as you say, just in case. And I’ve been offered it on the NHS. Feel like it will be normal but worth a try. Just want to find a reason! Hope your doing well. Congratulations xx

Definitely worth a try, and also reassuring if it does come back clear as it can rule out a few more potential issues. Thank you sweetheart - hope all goes well for you xxx

Hi gemmy. Try not to worry about having it done, as they/you will gain lots of information about your womb and have a biopsy of the lining too. Usually, they offer you antibiotics, just in case. Hope it goes well. Diane

Thank you Diane. That’s helpful to know. The appointment has come at the perfect time so feels right to have it investigated. Sounds really helpful if they take a biopsy. X

Hi

I had a hysteroscopy after having 2 faild ivf rounds and I requested to have it by myself! They checked my uterus before that several times and they said there is nothing wrong with it but in the hysteroscopy they found very mild adhesions on my womb and with some njections they removed it! She said maybe it was from my last sugery which was 3 years ago( I had a few fibroma removed) . However dr said they were mild, I got pregnant naturaly a month after that for the first time. Unfortunately it ended with a mc but still it was good enough to have it! I would reccomend it for sure!

Take care and good luck! Xxxx

Thank you for your reply. That’s really good to know. I’ve had infections before that had left me with scarring but they said that it wasn’t in my womb but I’ve never had a hysteroscopy. Sorry to hear about your MC. Congratulations on your recent BFP. Gives me some hope as ok also 40 and been using my OE. Xx

Your welcome! As I know they can not find the uterus problems with a normal scan and hysteroscopy can help them to c there much more accurately! It was worth to try for me actually!

Thank u! It is so interesting that we r in the same page and really hope all the best to u to get your bfp soon!

Im too nervous at the moment as I have almost no pregnancy symptoms but we’ll wait till the scan in 2weeks!

Take care and all the best to u! xxxx

Thank you. I’m glad I started the ball rolling last year as the appointment is next week for my hysteroscopy so it’s fallen at a good time. As good a time as it can be with needing it after a BFN 😢

Look after yourself. Xx

Our stories sound so similar - similar age, I've had two failed attempts with using my frozen eggs harvested before chemotherapy in 2015. All six have been used now - successfully fertilised, some high quality but no implantation. Had hysteroscopy and initial personal thoughts is that nothing new is going to show up as they don't be believe some very small fibroids that I have should be causing any problems. They are pointing to poor egg quality which I just don't believe. They have already mentioned after two attempts 'egg donation' - but I'm not there yet. Hoping to attempt a fresh ovary stimulation but as I'm 41 - I have to be prepared for a poor response... Not giving up but its so damn hard... Have a review following my scan on the 4th July.... x How did yours go? Any feedback?

Hi I’m sorry to hear your having a tough time. Especially with you going through chemotherapy. I don’t think anyone can put a time on when you should move on. It’s when your mentally ready. I had a polyp removed which I didn’t know was there. But kinda wish now it wasn’t found as we are due to start out 5th fresh cycle! And I might have moved on to donor now if that wasn’t found. But we’re in agreement with the consultant that we try again as we’ve had an intervention. But it might not have even been the cause. Frustrating!! We are moving to donor after this cycle. Wish you so much luck. Xx

Hi, how did your Hysteroscopy go? Did you have to do it at a particular time in your cycle? Did they find anything? Any luck so far?

Hi, it went well thanks. A 1cm polyp was removed. And we’ve just had our first BFP from our 5th fresh cycle. Possibly from the polyp removal but we’d never know really. It was straight forward, just some gas and air needed. No it didn’t need to be at any certain time. Xx

Congratulations! How wonderful. I hope they find something when they do my Hysteroscopy! Can you remember which calendar it was when you did yours by any chance?

Did you ever do an ERA?

gemmy999 profile image
gemmy999 in reply toFingerscrossed38

Thanks you. No I haven’t had ERA.

Sorry, what do you mean by which calendar? X

Fingerscrossed38 profile image
Fingerscrossed38 in reply togemmy999

Sorry meant which calendar day of your cycle did you have the Hysteroscopy. Was it before or after ovulation?

They didn’t plan it around my cycle at all. They say it doesn’t matter. It happened to be one week after my cycle failed x

Ah ok that was the perfect time to do it apparently. So happy it's worked out for you 😁
