Who clipped your tube(s)?! Gynae? IVF Cons?

Hey all , Just wanted to see if anyone has had their tube(s) clipped by an IVF consultant? If so do they use the theatres at the main hospital or use those in the IVF clinic? I’m just struggling to imagine it as always have laparoscopies at main sites under Gynae. Thanks

Hi Run4ever. One you need to take up with your fertility specialist I think, as hospitals are working differently. Good luck! Diane

I had a laparoscopy for an investigation and it was done at a main hospital not the ivf clinic. Hope this helps

Thank you that’s really useful! My referral letter to the IVF consultant from my gynae surgeon says they should probably clip my tube before ivf. I’ve had all my tests and surgery under gynae so i’m very confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hiya! My tubes are both clipped... I had a dye test performed on both of them - this was all done by the ivf consultant. The laparoscopy was done in the main hospital but again together with the IVF doctors. I hope this helps.

That does sound confusing - I think I'd try to phone the Gynae department to understand.

I had a gynae consultant at the hospital who did all the initial tests etc. They referred me to a clinic for IVF (one that does NHS treatment too) but the clinic send me back to the gynae consultant as they wouldn't start the ivf until I had mine clipped or removed. The op was in the hospital and then once recovered I went back to the clinic for tests to confirm all was good to start the ivf.

Each hospital is different and I really should have pushed for it to be treated before they sent me to the clinic and wasted more time but I didn't know a blocked tube could be an issue for ivf.

Good luck with finding out more and hopefully getting the treatment as soon as you can. Take care x
