Good morning, I’m looking to potentially do my 4th round of ivf . This is an extremely difficult decision for us as I’m now 43. I’m fit and healthy my clinic are encouraging us to try again however after 3 failed rounds already I’m thinking can I do this again.
Has anyone got any success stories for over 40, I guess I’m reaching out for hope .
Thank you 😊

Hey, I had success at 41. I'm also now 43 and clinging onto hope to try to get a sibling. Your clinic wouldn't be encouraging you if your AMH and AFC weren't reasonable I'm sure. I wish my clinic were more proactive in getting me started, I think they have too much of a backlog for that! Keep us updated - I always look out for success stories from over 40s xx
For most people it definitely gets harder over 40, with our own eggs - but lots of people have success (lots on here too!) and I'm guessing your general health and AMH etc are pretty good if your clinic is encouraging you to go again with your own eggs, so that's positive! But I hear you - it's a slog , psychologically and physically (not to mention financially!) and it's a lot to take on. Wishing you lots of luck in your decision xxx
Hi Amy and AuroraXen, ❤️ to you both. I’ve recently completed my second round of IVF and it was unsuccessful. I’m 42. I hear that if you’ve previously had a child, then your chances might be better plus 40. I’m not in that category. My clinician recommended the egg donor route if I am considering next steps but it’s still too raw at the moment for me. Wishing you both well. Amy, my friends sister was successful with two babies post 40 years but I don’t know if they were her own eggs or donors.
Hi Amy, I will say that I have a friend who did IVF at 45 and had a baby, then waited a year or so and did another transfer which was successful. So it can definitely happen! Best of luck xx
I'm 44 and just gave birth to our azmazing miracle boy in April.
I have a very complicated medical history which includes many drugs, several conditions which cause complications with falling pregnant. Also had 3 years of chemo prior to trying.
One difference is we had to use donor eggs as mine weren't any good.
I wad warned we wouldn't get past 30 weeks and it wasn't a case of if I got pre-eclampsia but when.... Well I got to 37 weeks, no pre-eclampsia and a very happy, healthy baby.
I was 44 when we started treatment and successful just before my 45 birthday. I am now watching Octonauts with my gorgeously energetic 2.5 year old. Sending good growing vibes to you.
After one unsuccessful round which started when I was 42 but was delayed because of Covid, I was advised by a consultant to do back to back cycles of IVF banking embryos to take advantage of being 43 years of age. My consultant said they rarely saw success with IVF over 44.
I did a 3 cycle package and had a fresh transfer during the final round. I got my BFP a few weeks before my 44th birthday and now have a gorgeous 4 month old daughter. I also have 3 frosties if we choose to try for siblings.
Hi Amy, I’ve been an IVFer for years now, I’ve lost count of the number of positive posts I’ve seen about girls in their 40s being successful Being older does come with a few more risks but if your like me then you weigh them up and crack on anyway.
I had my second baby at 44 via IVF. I think what really helped was taking micronized DHEA for 3 months beforehand as it really seemed to improve the embryo quality. My AMH was actually pretty good for my age, but unfortunately after age 42 the benefits of a good AMH are not so strong, because age becomes more of a factor. This is the scientific evidence for it, and as someone who analyses medical data for a living, I think this evidence is pretty strong: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/313... gave my leftover pills to my 43 year old friend who had a history of recurrent miscarriage and she got pregnant after 3 months.
Hi I had success at ivf fresh day 3 transfer my own egg and now 31 weeks pregnant. It was my only cycle and done very low dose due to oestrogen cancers in my family but it worked 💕
Hi! I’m 36 weeks pregnant with a gorgeous baby girl and have just turned 44. I had success on my 5th transfer. Also I thought at my maternity appointments they would all mention how old I was etc but noone has said anything. Good luck, dreams can come true💕
Hi there, I have just started my day two of injections , age 43 years old and trying with my own eggs,. Very nervous but keeping everything crossed and praying.
I have been recommended to take 600mg CoEnzyme Q10 and 75 mg DHEA
