Ever feel like your fertility journey is never ending? š
weāve had to pause our IVF as I developed OHSS and they discovered an un-noticed fibroid that was 18cm big. How you donāt notice that is beyond me. Iām down to have a myomectomy in the next few weeks and from my MRI results theyāve also noticed that I have Endemetriosis. Can it get any worse?
I spoke to my consultant today and he said he will be of course be removing the massive fibroid but he also mentioned removing my Fallopian tubes as they appear to be damaged. I never knew any of this as I have never had any symptoms so Iām so crushed finding out thereās more things wrong with me. I knew that I would always have to have IVF due to male factor infertility but finding out I could never get pregnant naturally in the 1st place has been a big shock. Has anyone had both of their Fallopian tubes removed and still had a successful cycle of IVF? I guess Iām just looking for hope at this point as hope and faith is all I have left šany uplifting stories would be so comforting to hear. I donāt want to start 2023 with a bleak outlook as I was so pumped and positive before hearing this news.

I lost both tubes to ruptured ectopics within the space of a year - a year after the second one I was successful on my 5th and final round of IVF and had twins x
After several failed embryo transfers and many chemicals, I finally got a sticky BFP about 2 months after my endo surgery where they removed lots of things. It is definitely worth getting everything right, but I know how frustrating it is xx
Congratulations lovely ššthatās such wonderful news. I think hearing of surgery then going through so many downs makes you feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel but then all makes it worthwhile if you get the positive outcome youāve been dreaming of. Iāll need to keep going like you, thank you for your inspiration xx
Hi Ree_Laine, I'm sorry your going through this. Fallopian tubes are needed for IVF so having them removed won't effect your chances of IVF pregnancy. Be kind to yourself and good luck on your journey x
Thank you š, I feel so upset that my body isnāt performing like it should but youāre right I need to be much more kind to myself and do the best I can xx also I read that as the tubes are ānotā needed for IVF Iām sure thatās what you meant š¤ Iām glad to know it shouldnāt affect my chances.
Yes sorry fallopian tubes are not needed for IVF! Take some time to process and treat yourself. Maybe plan to do something special with your partner focusing on the good things you have always helped me get through. Good luck x
I am also going through this at the moment. Iām due for endo surgery on 2nd Feb and they believe one tube is blocked and potentially both due to endo and so on 2nd Feb I will wake up to either one or no tubes. Weāve also got male factor to contend with so after 14 months of trying, weāve accepted ivf is our only route. Iām trying to think of it that way in prep for surgery.
I also have cysts in my ovaries and they are starting me on stims tomorrow to freeze some embroyos by the end of the month. In an ideal world, we get some frozen embroyos, my tubes get removed then we transfer 3 months later. You need 3 months recovery from tube removal for transfer. Also if tubes are blocked, you most likely need them removed to give you best chances for ivf as sometimes thereās fluid in those tubes that can prevent implantation. My doctor told me Thursday that atm weād have a 40% chance of success with ivf transfer (weāre 33) but if I left the blocked tube in it would only be 20% chance.
Hey hun, aww I understand completely where youāre coming from. Iām glad youāre having the surgery very soon too, Iām still waiting for my date but theyāve said it will be within the next 9 weeks. Honestly Iād never know about any of these things thatās going on in my body. I only know now Iām going through this fertility journey to have children. Iām 36 so hoping to have everything sorted whilst I have time and a good ovarian reserve. Iāve had 1 cycle of IVF already and managed to get 1 embryo š. I know understand that removing both Fallopian tubes are in my interest to have a successful pregnancy and as you say will give me a better chance of implantation as the consultant also advised. Iāve heard so many positive outcomes and that having endometriosis is a slight obstacle but doesnāt stop us from having children. Iām thankful that it was just a bit of a shock finding out I had another issue. Wishing you the best of luck with your surgery and treatment I pray it all goes well for you lovely xxx š
I have fibroids and no fallopian tubes ( after 3 ectopics both were removed ). I welcomed baby boy no 3 in November 2022 having used IVF for all 3. Fallopian Tubes never needed for ivf. !! You will be good š It took 3 attempts at IVF to get the right protocol and find out why it didnāt work. Once we knew ( I suffered with low progesterone so it never stuck ) it seemed easy !! Itās such a journey but keep going and you will get there !!
@Ace1991 Thank you ā¤ļø You have made my morning! Bless you lovely. Baby no. 3 is amazing! I really appreciate your words of encouragement and Iām really going to keep going and not let this make me feel defeated. Iām putting all my worry and doubt aside because of this group š¤
itās all about your eggs really !! My partner had lazy sperm issues so had to have ICSI with IVF.
Even if you donāt have eggs you can go a donor route It really is possible to hold a baby in most circumstances if you have the patience, strength and money to try
As for tubes. I wouldnāt have them removed until I knew they were damaged due to ectopics etc. what if you split with partner and try naturally with someone new.? That being said. I remember clinging on to mine as really didnāt want them removed and couldnāt accept I wouldnāt be able to conceive naturally. I do remember a Dr telling me IVF will work better without them I canāt really remember why though. In the end I have in and had them removed and moved onto IVF.
Keep Going youāll get there before you know it and be holding your bubba
