Progynova is anyone on this? What are side effects? Scared to try a new drug.

Doing a natural + trigger + progesterone + clexane (not so natural really) FET cycle. FET booked for this Saturday.

Had bloods taken this morning and my clinic called to say my progesterone is only 81 and they want me to how do 3 x Lubion daily + 4 x cyclogest as they want it above 100 before FET on 3 days time.

My e2 level was only 358 and they want it above 500 so they'd putting me on 3 x Progynova from tomorrow. I'm really nervous about using a new drug. What will the side effects be? Is it going to make me sick and moody? How can starting it on a Thursday do enough by Saturday? What does it even do??

Any personal experiences welcome please xx

Hi

I’m currently on 3 a day too. For me personally progynova is definitely one of the ‘better’ ivf meds in terms of side effects. I get a bit headachey at the beginning but nothing too bad and it’s usually mild enough to be helped with drinking lots of water.

That is a huge amount of progesterone to be on, fingers crossed it does the trick and this is your round.

Good luck! Xx

Oh thanks for replying. I am worried I'm not be on it for long enough before FET for it to make any impact. I start it some time tomorrow (Thursday) and my FET is 1pn Saturday.

Yes it's so much progesterone but my BMI is 39 so it's probably diluted? Dr says high progesterone prevents my body from producing sufficient estrogen hence the progynova...but if I get a bfp Dr said I can stop Progynova but everyone else is on it for first 12 weeks! I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

When is your FET?

It was the end of October, I’m currently 7 weeks so all being well have been told to continue meds until 12 weeks.

I agree with Peony your clinic sounds very thorough! Good luck love x

Oh congrats! That's wonderful news. Yes, my clinic is great but until I get my bro it's not perfect ;-)

It’s so great that your clinic has checked all of this! I’m on Progynova too. I am OK on it and don’t have any side effects but I think everyone reacts differently. Wishing you all the best for your transfer!

A few of us were saying earlier we feel really tired on progynova but that’s the only side effect I’ve had and doesn’t seem like everyone has it!

Good luck lovely xx

Hey! I saw my consultant today and mentioned tiredness and I also felt a bit sick this morning. She said both are normal & not to take progynova on an empty stomach to avoid feeling sick - thought I’d let you know in case 😘 also space them out too xx

Everyone's so different - I've seen people complaining about progynova but for me it was totally fine. I found the progesterone made me really bad tempered and ravenous but that settled down quite quickly when my body got used to it. Best of luck with your FET xxx

Guess I'll know tomorrow but praying it's not too bad. Thanks fingers crossed for Saturday xx

Hi there, I’m on Progynova three times a day and have no negative side effects what so ever - if anything I feel really good!! 😊 👍 my consultant said it’s a huge dose of oestrogen but he’s not surprised I feel good on it!! After two weeks my E2 (oestrogen) level was 870 so don’t worry yours will shoot up! You do get a lot of gooey discharge (like EWCM) but that’s it!! my progesterone score was 0.4 (which was also fine) but they must be using a different measurement to yours ... X

Great. I'm hoping 2 days of Progynova will make it shoot above 500 in time for my fet. Xx

Hi,

I had some side effects when I was on progynova. The progynova alone would only make me hungry all the time. I had to take 4 times per day.

What I didn't like was doing progynova and progesterone together. When taking both meds I had nausea and feeling bloated all the time.

Eventually I got used to it because it was for a good cause.

On my last FET my clinic also add Lubion cause Utrogestan 200mg 4 times per day was not enough. I'm 28 weeks pregnant.

Sending you lots of positives vibes! Best of luck with your FET xx

Congratulations! Gosh I'm praying I don't get the hunger or nausea! Did you stay on both till you were 12 weeks also?

in reply toFingerscrossed38

Thank you!

Yes, I stayed on both (progesterone + estrogen) till 12 weeks.

At the moment, I'm still doing Utrogestan (progesterone) 200mg 1 per day because I had a lot of episodes of spotting and bleeding. Luckily it stopped around week 14.

I dont really get too many side effects with progynova so hopefully you're the same, bit tired and hungry....perhaps a little water retention, oh and sore boobs! Sounds like your clinic sure have everything covered....so much for your natural approach eh?! Ha ha ha Good lucl for transfer, hope it all goes smoothly.xx

Tell me about it!! Feel like I'm on the max dose of so many drugs now :-( kind of wish I did medicated at the start so we weren't second guessing when to trigger. That part is often so stressful and I've heard with medicated all the guessing is taken out. Oh well. Xx

Yes, Ive never done a natural for that reason. However, dont stress....onwards and upwards....not long to get your little one back where he/she belongs!!xx

I am on 3 progynova a day. No real side effects ....Well not any I can pinpoint but taking these even a few days before fet will be better than not especially if your levels are low. I am also on evorel patches. Good luck xx

As most people have said I’ve not had any terrible side effects from Progynova. I was taking 3 a day and mainly just felt a little tired and bloated. I did feel more hungry, but think that’s more related to the tiredness. I’ve just had mine upped to 6 a day and so far it’s not been to much worse. You should be fine, it’s definitely better than all the medication/injections for a fresh transfer xx

Fingerscrossed38 profile image
Fingerscrossed38 in reply toLavender96

6 per day. Is that 1 or 2mg each pill? I took my first one 1 hour ago and so far nothing. Praying I don't get the hunger as I'm big enough as it is and don't need any encouragement there haha. What is your plan? Do you have an FET soon? What are your e2 levels?

Lavender96 profile image
Lavender96 in reply toLavender96

It’s 2mg pills, so a 4mg dose 3 times a day. I had a scan yesterday and my lining wasn’t thick enough for transfer so they upped my dose and added in a Estradiol patch. I now have to go back for another scan next week and if my lining is think enough they’ll book my in for a transfer the following Monday. So fingers crossed the double dose does the trick!!

I didn’t find out what my e2 levels were. They took my bloods but didn’t tell me.

Ahh I’m sure you’ll be fine. I just know I get hungry when I’m tired and I’m tired a lot at the moment, though that’s prob work related as well 😴😂

Oh cool. Fingers crossed your lining thickens up nicely! Best of luck xx
